New closures / obstructions
Moritz-von-Rohr-Straße
- Type: Complete closure
- Location: at the level of the university of applied sciences
- Duration: 13.05. - 21.06.2024
- Reason: Civil engineering work (medium voltage cable)
- Details: The closure can be bypassed via Carl-Zeiss-Promenade. The construction site can be passed safely on foot.
Dornburger Straße
- Type: Traffic disruption
- Location: between the intersection of Dornburger Straße and Robert-Blum-Straße and the Altenburger Straße stop
- Duration: 13.05. - 31.07.2024
- Reason: Civil engineering works (installation of new masts for the overhead lines)
- Details: The work will take place in the area of the sidewalks on both sides of the road and on private property. Road closures or restrictions for streetcar traffic are not associated with the construction work. However, there may be temporary traffic disruptions, for example due to crossing construction vehicles or deposited materials.

NOTE: Unfortunately, it has not yet been possible to apply road markings due to the weather. For this reason, the newly extended area will be signposted with a speed limit of 30 km/h. We ask all road users to drive on the newly extended road section with caution and consideration.

Angergasse
- Type: Complete closure

- Reason: Civil engineering works
- Details: Pedestrians can walk around the construction site via Quergasse.
Brückenstraße
- Type: Half-sided closure in the form of a one-way street regulation
- Location: between Leibnizstraße and Naumburger Straße
- Duration: until 24.05.2024
- Reason: Laying of district heating pipeline
- Details: The one-way street is passable in the direction of Kunitz. Out-of-town traffic will be diverted via the street "Am Steinbach".
Dammstraße
- Type: Complete closure
- Duration: until 30.05.2024
- Reason: Laying of pipes and renewal of the road surface
- Details: The construction work is divided into two construction phases. Pedestrians can pass the construction site safely. A detour for private traffic will be signposted on site.
- Construction phase: Magnus-Poser-Straße to Schenkstraße
- Construction phase: Schenkstraße to Charlottenstraße
Ernst-Haeckel-Straße
- Type: Complete closure
- Location: between Erbertstraße and Sellierstraße
- Duration: until 30.06.2024
- Reason: Work on the drinking water pipeline
- Details: Traffic will be diverted via the following route: Vor dem Neutor - Knebelstraße - Am Eisenbahndamm - Fürstengraben. The construction site can be passed safely on foot.
Grenzstraße
- Type: Half-sided closure
- Location: At house numbers 2 - 4
- Duration: until 31.05.2024
- Reason: Construction of an apartment building
- Details: Pedestrians will be guided safely past the construction site using an emergency pedestrian route.
Hermann-Löns-Straße
- Type: Closure on one side
- Location: up to the junction with Mühlenstraße
- Duration: until 31.07.2024
- Reason: Laying of a medium-voltage cable
- Details: Traffic will be guided past the construction site by means of a mobile traffic light system
2x Karl-Liebknecht-Straße
- Type: selective restrictions in sections
- Location: from the junction with Rosenstraße to the junction with Karl-Günther-Straße
- Duration: until 31.05.2024
- Reason: Maintenance work on the tracks
- Details: The construction areas (moving construction site) are short and can be avoided with mutual consideration.
- Type: Complete closure
- Location: between Feldstraße and Brändströmstraße
- Duration: until 02.08.2024
- Reason: Laying of combined sewer on behalf of Stadtwerke Jena
- Details: Traffic will be widely diverted via Wiesenstraße - Am Anger - Camsdorfer Brücke. Bicycle traffic will be diverted via: Pestalozzistraße - Gabelsbergerstraße - Am Steinborn. Streetcar services will continue to run despite the construction work.
Keßlerstraße
- Type: Complete closure
- Location: between Göschwitzer Straße and Geraer Straße (1st construction phase)
- Duration: until 04.06.2024
- Reason: fundamental expansion in the area of Grenzstraße
- Details: A detour will be signposted. Pedestrians can pass the construction site safely.
Lichtenhainer Oberweg
- Type: Various restrictions
- Location: Tatzendpromenade junction to the access road to the P10 Zeiss parking lot
- Duration: until 31.12.2024
- Reason: Laying of district heating pipeline
- Details: From 25.03. to 30.06.2024, the work will initially be carried out with the road closed on one side. For this purpose, Lichtenhainer Oberweg will become a one-way street in the direction of Lichtenhain. A detour via Mühlenstraße will be signposted for traffic heading into the city. From July onwards, the Lichtenhainer Oberweg will have to be fully closed in sections. The construction site will gradually work its way from the upper part of Lichtenhainer Oberweg towards Tatzendpromenade. Detour will be signposted via Friedrich-Körnerstrasse, Döbereinerstrasse and Philipp-Müller-Strasse. Stadtwerke Energie Jena-Pößneck asks for your understanding for the restrictions.
Lobeda Ost and Lobeda Altstadt
- Type: Temporary half-side closure + sidewalk closure
- Duration: until 07.06.2024
- Reason: Civil engineering work for laying fiber optic cables
- Details: The construction site can be passed safely on foot.
Lutherstrasse
- Type: Half-sided closure + sidewalk closure
- Location: in westbound direction (Weimar) from the Carl-Zeiß-Platz junction
- Duration: until 15.05.2024
- Reason: Replacement of the Telekom cable duct in the sidewalk
- Details: The detour leads via Carl-Zeiß-Platz / Blumenstraße. The one-way street in Blumenstraße will be turned around, a replacement stop of the Jena public transport will be arranged in Blumenstraße for the closed stop in Lutherstraße.
Eastern Löbdergraben
- Type: Complete closure
- Location: between Steinweg and Lutherplatz
- Duration: until 09.08.2024
- Reason: Roadworks and media relocation
- Details: Traffic will be diverted via the following route Am Eisenbahndamm - Am Anger - Lutherplatz.
People on foot use the western side of Löbdergraben.
Löbichauer Straße
- Type: Complete closure
- Location: Lower Löbichauer Straße (Karl-Liebknecht-Straße to Eschenplatz)
- Duration: until 30.11.2024
- Reason: Civil engineering works
- Details: Pedestrians will be safely rerouted.
Naumburger Straße
- Type: Half-sided closure
- Duration: until 30.07.2024
- Reason: Reconstruction of the streetcar stop "Stifterstraße" + installation of track replacement
- Details: During the construction period, a one-way street will be installed from the Zitzmannstraße junction to Altenburger Straße. The one-way street is passable in the direction of the city center. The construction site can be passed safely on foot.
- Addition: In the period 25.03. - 31.07.2024, additional civil engineering work must be carried out at the local transport construction site. Due to the additional track drainage with associated shafts, the road must remain fully closed in order to work in the construction area with appropriate equipment from the roadway. Individual traffic cannot flow due to the safety regulations to be observed. The road will then be closed again on one side only. As a result, the buses of the rail replacement service (SEV line E) will continue to take an alternative route.
The Stifterstraße stop is still closed and the Altenburger Straße replacement stop cannot be reached. Passengers are requested to use the Merseburger Straße stop instead.
Nollendorfer Straße
- Type: Complete closure
- Location: between Thomas-Mann-Straße and Dornburger Straße
- Duration: until 30.05.2024
- Reason: Major road renovation
2x Oberaue
- Type: Complete closure
- Location: From the Saaleeingang Ernst-Abbe-Sportfeld to just before the Lichtenhainer Brücke bridge
- Duration: until 30.06.2024
- Reason: Work on the stadium grandstand
- Details: The Lichtenhain Bridge is not affected by the closure. A detour for pedestrians and cyclists is signposted.
- Type: Access restrictions
- Duration: until 24.05.2024
- Reason: Remaining work
- Details: The mobile traffic light system will be reactivated. Entry to the Oberaue is possible.
- Addition: In the period 13 - 15.05.2024, milling and surface course work will be carried out on the access road to Oberaue. The right turn lane must be closed for this. Road users will be informed by detour signs via: Jenertal - Wöllnitzer Straße and Am Stadion. Furthermore, one lane in the direction out of town may be closed daily from 9:00 am to 2:30 pm.
Remderoda
- Type: Complete closure
- Location: Road in the direction of Remderoda
- Duration: until 30.05.2024
- Reason: Laying of drinking water pipe
- Details: A detour via Münchenroda will be signposted.
Schroeterstraße
- Type: Complete closure
- Location: from the junction with Strigelstraße to the junction with Am Friedensberg
- Duration: until 30.10.2024
- Reason: Fundamental expansion of the road
Sickingenstraße
- Type: Complete closure
- Location: Sickingenstraße / Herderstraße intersection area
- Duration: until 02.06.2024
- Reason: Repair work on the sewer
- Details: A subsidence of the road surface occurred last week in Sickingenstraße in Jena-West. The cause was determined to be a defect in a sewer. The JenaWasser association is now replacing the affected section of the sewer at short notice. Both streets will remain fully closed in this section until the work has been completed. A detour will be signposted on site.
Pond ditch
- Type: Half-sided closure
- Duration: until 24.05.2024
- Reason: Renovation of the bus stop (accessibility) incl. surface course work
- Details: Traffic will be maintained by means of one-way traffic regulations. The one-way street can be driven on in the direction of Leutragraben. A one-way street will also be set up in the Nonnenplan area.
- The cab ranks from Nonnenplan that are no longer required will be relocated. The replacement location will be set up in Kollegiengasse opposite the C&A clothing store (up to the Nonnenplan junction).
- A replacement stop will be set up by local transport in Nonnenplan, further information can be found at www.stadtwerke-jena.de/nahverkehr.
- Addition: Please do not park any vehicles in the Holzmarkt area. It must be possible for local transport to pass through this area safely and smoothly. The public order office will carry out increased checks in the Holzmarkt area.
- Attention: From 14.05. to 16.05.2024 , the above-mentioned area will be completely closed. During the closure period, the surface course will be installed in the bus stop area. Road users who want to drive in the direction of Leutragraben must bypass the full closure via Holzmarkt and Grietgasse.
Wöllnitz
- Type: Temporary half-side closure + sidewalk closure
- Duration: until 31.05.2024
- Reason: Civil engineering work for laying fiber optic cables
- Details: The construction site can be passed safely on foot.
Ziegenhain

Announcements
Münchenrodaer Straße
- Type: Complete closure
- Location: Lane in the direction of Münchenroda
- Duration: will not be started for the time being!
- Reason: Civil engineering works (fiber optic expansion)
- Details: Individual traffic can bypass the closure using a mobile traffic light system via "Am Mühlberg". The one-way street will be closed for this purpose. This means that the road can be used by alternating traffic.
