New closures / obstructions

Mühlenstraße

• Type: Complete closure
• Location: House number 48 to Ulrichweg junction
• Duration: 05.08. - 20.12.2024
• Reason: Work on the electrical line
• Details: The detour is via Lichtenhainer Oberweg. Outgoing traffic can drive via Ulrichweg (one-way street).

Thomas-Mann-Straße

• Type: Complete closure
• Location: At the junction of Nollendorfer Straße / Von-Haase-Weg
• Duration: 05.08. - 23.08.2024
• Reason: Civil engineering works
• Details: The one-way street will be closed. Residents can access their properties from Hufelandweg. The construction site can be passed safely on foot.

Ended closures

Kahlaische Straße

• Location: House numbers 68 and from the junction of Beutenbergstraße to house number 46

• The media relocation has been completed.

Karl-Liebknecht-Straße

• Location: between Feldstraße and Brandströmstraße

• The laying of the combined sewer has been completed.

Ziegenhainer Straße 7

• The roof work has been completed.

Existing closures

Dammstraße

• Type: Complete closure
• Duration: until 31.12.2024
• Reason: Laying of pipes and renewal of the road surface
• Details: The construction work is divided into two construction phases. Pedestrians can pass the construction site safely. A detour for private traffic will be signposted on site.

2nd construction phase: Schenkstraße to Charlottenstraße

2x Dornburger Straße

• Type: Various road closures
• Location House number 6
• Start: 19.06.2024
• Reason: Construction of a new house
• Details: From this date, the sidewalk along the property and the adjacent parking lane will be required and closed for the construction site equipment. From 15.08.2024 , the roadway out of town will also be required until the shell of the building is completed. Out-of-town traffic will be diverted via Spitzweidenweg and Nollendorfer Straße.

• Location: from the Altenburger Straße stop to the Nordschule school
• Duration: until 09.08.2024
• Reason: The renewal of the overhead line system of the Jena public transport system makes it necessary to close one side of the road at certain points and to close the sidewalk at the various mast locations during daily working hours.

Ernst-Abbe-Platz

• Duration: until 30.08.2024
• Reason: Extensive construction work in the track area
• Details: Crossing facilities will be set up for pedestrians.

Ernst-Haeckel-Straße

• Type: Complete closure
• Location: Lane in the direction of the traffic circle
• Duration: until 09.08.2024
• Reason: Civil engineering works
• Details: The closure can be bypassed via Rathenaustraße - Curt-Unckel-Straße - Hainstraße. The lane from the traffic circle towards Ernst-Haekel-Kreuzung remains passable. The roadworks can be passed safely on foot.

Friedrich-Engels-Straße

• Type: Complete closure
• Location: Junction with Wöllnitzer Straße to junction with Kernbergstraße
• Duration: until 27.06.2025 (overall measure)
• Reason: Media relocation

• 1st construction phase: 01.08 - 23.12.2024
  Between the junction of Wöllnitzer Straße and the junction of Am Kochersgraben

• Details: The detour is via Jenertal - Kernbergstraße. A detour will be signposted. The construction site can be passed on foot. The directly affected residents will receive updated information on the accessibility of their properties and contact details of the relevant contact persons before the start of construction.

  Bus route 16 Mühltal - city center - Ziegenhainer Tal is also affected by the closure. Jena public transport will be setting up a shuttle service here from August 1.

Border road

• Type: Closure on one side
• Location: At house numbers 2 - 4
• Duration: until 23.08.2024
• Reason: Construction of an apartment building
• Details: An emergency footpath leads past the construction site.

Hornstrasse

• Type: Complete closure
• Location: between the Magdelstieg junction and Hornstraße 4
• Duration: until approx. 31.08.2024
• Reason: Accident
• Details: Repair work on the sewage pipe has been initiated.

Keßlerstraße

• Type: Complete closure
• Location: between Göschwitzer Straße and Geraer Straße (1st construction phase)
• Duration: until 28.08.2024
• Reason: fundamental expansion in the Grenzstraße area
• Details: A detour will be signposted. The construction site can be passed on foot.
• Addition: From 29.08. - 30.11.2024 a full closure between the Geraer Staße junction to the railroad bridge is necessary for the work.

Church square

• Type: Traffic restrictions
• Location: Around the town church
• Duration: until 30.12.2024
• Reason: extensive construction work
• Details: The construction site can be passed on foot, access to the town church is guaranteed during the entire construction period. Saalstraße will be fully closed to transit/delivery traffic.

Lichtenhainer Oberweg

• Type: Various restrictions
• Location: Tatzendpromenade junction to access to the P10 Zeiss parking lot
• Duration: until 31.12.2024
• Reason: Laying of district heating pipeline
• Details: From July, the Lichtenhainer Oberweg will have to be fully closed in sections. The construction site is gradually working its way from the upper part of Lichtenhainer Oberweg towards Tatzendpromenade. Detour will be signposted via Friedrich-Körnerstrasse, Döbereinerstrasse and Philipp-Müller-Strasse. Stadtwerke Energie Jena-Pößneck asks for your understanding for the restrictions.

Lobeda Ost and Lobeda Altstadt

• Type: Temporary half-side closure + sidewalk closure
• Duration: until 23.08.2024
• Reason: Civil engineering work for laying fiber optic cables
• Details: The construction site can be passed safely on foot.

Eastern Löbdergraben

• Type: Complete closure
• Location: between Steinweg and Lutherplatz
• Duration: until 01.11.2024
• Reason: Roadworks and media relocation
• Details: Traffic will be diverted via the following route Am Eisenbahndamm - Am Anger - Lutherplatz.
• The construction site can be crossed on foot via the footpath on the western side of Löbdergraben.
• Addition: A new traffic route has been set up for road users who want to drive from the eastern Löbdergraben towards the Fürstengraben junction. It is possible to follow the signs and drive through the bus stop area in the direction of the Fürstengraben junction. When entering the track area from Löbdergraben, the streetcar must be given priority. Please drive carefully and considerately in this area.

Löbdergraben

• Type: Narrowing of lane
• Start: until 01.11.2024
• Reason: To ensure the construction work on the outdoor facilities of the Inselplatz campus
• Details: The eastbound lanes on Lutherplatz (Am Anger) will be narrowed to one lane over a distance of approx. 50.00 m from Löbdergraben. In Fürstengraben, the traffic flows will be separated into right-turning and straight-ahead vehicles.

Löbichauer Straße

• Type: Complete closure
• Location: Lower Löbichauer Straße (Karl-Liebknecht-Straße to Eschenplatz)
• Duration: until 30.11.2024
• Reason: Civil engineering works
• Details: Pedestrians will be safely rerouted.

Martin-Niemöller-Straße

• Type: Half-sided closure
• Start: until 31.08.2024
• Reason: Relocation of medium voltage road
• Details: The construction site can be safely passed on foot.

Moritz-von-Rohr-Straße

• Type: Closure on one side
• Location: at the level of the university of applied sciences
• Duration: until 23.08.2024
• Reason: Civil engineering works (medium voltage cable)

Naumburger Straße

• Type: Full closure Closure
• Location: between Zitzmannstraße and Altenburger Straße

• Reason: Conversion of the "Stifterstraße" streetcar stop and fundamental expansion of the track system

Nollendorfer Straße

• Location: From the Saaleeingang Ernst-Abbe-Sportfeld to just before the Lichtenhainer Brücke bridge

• Details: The Lichtenhain Bridge is not affected by the closure. A detour for cyclists and pedestrians is signposted.

Remderoda

• Location: Road in the direction of Remderoda

• Reason: Laying of drinking water pipe
• Details: A detour via Münchenroda will be signposted.

Schillerstraße

• Type: Speed reduced to 20 km/h
• Duration: until 18.08.2024
• Reason: To increase safety for all road users during the Kulturarena
• Details: Barrier grids will also be installed to guide traffic safely.

Schroeterstrasse

• Type: Complete closure
• Location: from the junction with Strigelstraße to the junction with Am Friedensberg
• Duration: until 30.10.2024
• Reason: fundamental expansion of the road

Wöllnitz pedestrian bridge

• Type: Complete closure
• Duration: until 09.08.2024
• Reason: Maintenance work incl. renewal of the surface
• Details: Cyclists and pedestrians must use the traffic lights at Wöllnitz.

• Type: Complete closure

• Reason: Work on the pressure reduction shaft
• Details: The construction site can be passed safely on foot.

Mühlenstraße

• Type: Half-sided closure by setting up a one-way street
• Location: At house number 14
• Duration: 12.08. - 31.10.2024
• Reason: Civil engineering works
• Details: The one-way street will only be set up in the immediate construction area and can be driven on from Kahlaische Straße in the direction of Hermann-Löns-Straße. The construction site can be passed safely on foot.

Stadtrodaer Straße

• Type: Closure of one lane each
• Location: At the stadium parking lot to the junction with Unterdorfstraße
• Duration: 12.08. - 13.09.2024
• Reason: Pavement rehabilitation
• Details: Work will start with the outbound lanes. For this purpose, traffic will be guided past the construction site with one lane each (inbound and outbound).

  All lanes will be reopened on both 28.08.2024 (DFB Cup match against Leverkusen) and 04.09.2024 (derby against Erfurt) to increase traffic flow.
