Jena construction site report for the 36th calendar week (02. - 08.09.2024)

New road closures / obstructions

Isserstedter Straße

• Type: Complete closure
• Location: from house number 21 to the junction with Zum Ziskauer Tal
• Start: 02.09.2024
• Reason: Fundamental road expansion
• Details: The detour will be signposted on site.

Traffic circle Wiesenstraße

Duration: 04.09.2024 - 29.11.2025
Reason: Work on the Wiesenstraße traffic circle construction project.
Details: The entire traffic junction will be completely redesigned so that all types of traffic can be taken into account and traffic can flow safely.

There are 3 construction phases in total:

• 1st construction phase - construction of the north-west bypass and laying of the gas pipeline and empty conduits in the area of the bypass
• 2nd construction phase - construction of the north-east bypass

During construction phases 1 and 2, each direction can be served.

• 3rd construction phase - expansion of the junction

Access from the direction of Wiesenstraße to Brückenstraße and the industrial estate will no longer be possible until construction phase 3.
A wide detour will be signposted via Am Anger - Dornburger Straße - Camburger Straße.

Closures completed

Brückenstraße

• The work on the manhole covers has been completed.

Keßlerstraße

• The 1st construction phase of the basic road expansion has been completed.

Existing road closures

Bertolt-Brecht-Straße

• Type: Complete closure
• Location: in the area of house numbers 2 - 16
• Duration: until 28.09.2024
• Reason: Roadway renovation
• Details: The detour for individual and bus traffic is via Berthold-Brecht-Straße in the section from house number 18-32.

Dammstraße

• Type: Complete closure
• Duration: until 31.12.2024
• Reason: Laying of pipes and renewal of the road surface
• Details: The construction work is divided into two construction phases. Pedestrians can pass the construction site safely. A detour for private traffic will be signposted on site.

2nd construction phase: Schenkstraße to Charlottenstraße

Dornburger Straße

• Type: Various road closures
• Location House number 6
• Start: 19.06.2024
• Reason: Construction of a new house
• Details: From this date, the sidewalk along the property and the adjacent parking lane will be required and closed for the construction site equipment. In September , the lane out of town is also expected to be required until the shell of the building is completed. Out-of-town traffic will be diverted via Spitzweidenweg and Nollendorfer Straße.

Drackendorfer Weg

• Type: Full road closure at certain points
• Duration: until 11.10.2024
• Reason: Dismantling of medium-voltage cables
• Details: this measure also affects Richard-Zimmermann-Straße and Paul-Schneider-Straße in the further course.

Ernst-Abbe-Platz

• Duration: until 30.11.2024
• Reason: Extensive construction work in the track area
• Details: Crossing facilities for pedestrians will be set up.

Forstweg

• Type: Complete closure
• Location: below the railroad bridge
• Duration: until 25.10.2024
• Reason: Work on the pressure reduction shaft for the drinking water supply
• Details: Traffic is permitted up to the construction site. The construction site can be passed safely on foot.

Friedrich-Engels-Straße

• Type: Complete closure
• Location: Junction with Wöllnitzer Straße to junction with Kernbergstraße
• Duration: until 27.06.2025 (overall measure)
• Reason: Media relocation

• 1st construction phase: 01.08 - 23.12.2024
  Between the junction of Wöllnitzer Straße and the junction of Am Kochersgraben

• Details: The detour is via Jenertal - Kernbergstraße. A detour will be signposted. The construction site can be passed on foot. The directly affected residents will receive updated information on the accessibility of their properties and contact details of the relevant contact persons before the start of construction.

  Between the Kochersgraben junction and the Kernbergstraße junction

• 🚍 Information on the Mühltal bus route 16

  Bus route 16 Mühltal - city center - Ziegenhainer Tal is also affected by the closure. Jena public transport will be setting up a shuttle service here from August 1.

Geraer Straße

• Type: Complete closure
• Location: Geraer Straße junction up to before the railroad bridge
• Duration: until 30.11.2024
• Reason: Major roadworks
• Details: A detour will be signposted on site.

Grietgasse/ Holzmarkt

• Type: Complete closure
• Location: at the level of Bürgerservice/ Ernst-Abbe library
• Duration: until 30.09.2024
• Reason: Renewal of the district heating pipeline incl. integration of the supply lines into the existing network
• Details: Access to Neugasse is still only possible from the direction of Volksbad. Pedestrians and cyclists can pass the construction site. A detour for motor traffic will be signposted. Holzmarkt will remain closed from the Teichgraben junction. Bus and through traffic will continue to use a detour route.

Hermann-Löns-Straße

• Type: Closure on one side
• Location: Corner of Mühlenstraße
• Duration: until 13.09.2024
• Reason: Construction of a medium voltage road
• Details: Traffic will be regulated by a 5-way traffic light, so increased waiting times are to be expected. The public transport stops will be relocated. Further information can be found at www.stadtwerke-jena.de/nahverkehr.

Hornstrasse

• Type: Complete closure
• Location: between the Magdelstieg junction and Hornstraße 4
• Duration: probably until 15.09.2024
• Reason: Accident
• Details: Repair work on the sewage pipe has been completed. The remaining road construction work will take place from 19.08.2024.

Kernberg district

• Type: Traffic restrictions
• Duration: until 30.12.2024
• Reason: Fiber optic expansion

Kirchplatz

• Type: Traffic restrictions
• Location: City church surroundings
• Duration: until 30.12.2024
• Reason: extensive construction work
• Details: The construction site can be passed on foot, access to the town church is guaranteed during the entire construction period. Saalstraße will be fully closed to transit/delivery traffic.

Lichtenhainer Oberweg

• Type: Various restrictions
• Location: Tatzendpromenade junction to access to the P10 Zeiss parking lot
• Duration: until 31.12.2024
• Reason: Laying of district heating pipeline
• Details: From July, the Lichtenhainer Oberweg will have to be fully closed in sections. The construction site is gradually working its way from the upper part of Lichtenhainer Oberweg towards Tatzendpromenade. Detour will be signposted via Friedrich-Körnerstrasse, Döbereinerstrasse and Philipp-Müller-Strasse. Stadtwerke Energie Jena-Pößneck asks for your understanding for the restrictions.

Eastern Löbdergraben

• Type: Complete closure
• Location: between Steinweg and Lutherplatz
• Duration: until 01.11.2024
• Reason: Road construction work and media relocation
• Details: Traffic will be diverted via the following route Am Eisenbahndamm - Am Anger - Lutherplatz.
• The construction site can be crossed on foot via the footpath on the western side of Löbdergraben.
• Addition: A new traffic route has been set up for road users who want to drive from the eastern Löbdergraben towards the Fürstengraben junction. It is possible to follow the signs and drive through the bus stop area in the direction of the Fürstengraben junction. When entering the track area from Löbdergraben, the streetcar must be given priority. Please drive carefully and considerately in this area.

Löbdergraben

• Type: Narrowing of lane
• Start: until 01.11.2024
• Reason: To ensure the construction work on the outdoor facilities of the Inselplatz campus
• Details: The eastbound lanes on Lutherplatz (Am Anger) will be narrowed to one lane over a distance of approx. 50.00 m from Löbdergraben. In Fürstengraben, the traffic flows will be separated into right-turning and straight-ahead vehicles.

Löbichauer Straße

• Type: Complete closure
• Location: Lower Löbichauer Straße (Karl-Liebknecht-Straße to Eschenplatz)
• Duration: until 30.11.2024
• Reason: Civil engineering works
• Details: Pedestrians will be safely rerouted.
• Addition: From 12.08. - 13.12.2024 Löbichauer Straße will be fully closed until Eugen-Diederich-Straße. The extension of the construction site is necessary due to the reconstruction of sewage, drinking water and gas pipes and the construction of a new road. The detour will be via Im Ritzetal.

Martin-Niemöller-Straße

• Type: Half-sided closure
• Start: until 30.09.2024
• Reason: Relocation of medium voltage road
• Details: The construction site can be passed safely on foot.

2x Mühlenstraße

• Type: Complete closure
• Location: House number 48 to the junction with Ulrichweg
• Duration: until 20.12.2024
• Reason: Work on the electrical line
• Details: Outgoing traffic can drive via Ulrichweg (one-way street). The detour is via Lichtenhainer Oberweg. Furthermore, the area above can also be accessed via Lützowstraße - Wildenbruchstraße.

• Type: Half-sided closure by setting up a one-way street
• Location: At house number 21
• Duration: until 31.10.2024
• Reason: Civil engineering works
• Details: The one-way street will only be set up in the immediate construction area and can be driven on from Kahlaische Straße in the direction of Hermann-Löns-Straße. The construction site can be passed safely on foot.

Münchenrodaer Grund

• Type: Half-sided closure
• Location: Corner of Münchenrodaer Straße
• Duration: until 27.09.2024
• Reason: Rock stabilization
• Details: Traffic will be guided past the closure on both sides by means of mobile traffic lights.

Naumburger Straße

• Type: Full closure Closure
• Location: between Zitzmannstraße and Altenburger Straße
• Duration: until 30.09.2024
• Reason: Conversion of the "Stifterstraße" streetcar stop and fundamental expansion of the track system

Nollendorfer Straße

• Type: Complete closure
• Location: between Thomas-Mann-Straße and Dornburger Straße
• Duration: until 30.12.2024
• Reason: fundamental road renovation

Oberaue

• Type: Complete closure
• Location: From the Saaleeingang Ernst-Abbe-Sportfeld to just before the Lichtenhainer Brücke bridge
• Duration: until 30.09.2024
• Reason: Work on the stadium grandstand
• Details: The Lichtenhain Bridge is not affected by the closure. A detour for cyclists and pedestrians is signposted.

Remderoda

• Type: Complete closure
• Location: Road in the direction of Remderoda
• Duration: until 30.11.2024
• Reason: Laying of drinking water pipe
• Details: A detour via Münchenroda will be signposted.

2x Schroeterstraße

• Type: Complete closure
• Location: from Strigelstraße
• Duration: until 30.12.2024
• Reason: Fundamental road expansion to Forstweg
• Details: The connection to Katharinenstraße is not possible during the construction period

• Type: Complete closure
• Location: from the junction with Strigelstraße to the junction with Am Friedensberg
• Duration: until 30.10.2024
• Reason: Fundamental road expansion

Stadtrodaer Straße

• Type: Closure of one lane each
• Location: At the stadium parking lot to the junction with Unterdorfstraße
• Duration: until 13.09.2024
• Reason: Road surface renovation
• Details: Work will start with the outbound lanes. For this purpose, traffic will be guided past the roadworks with one lane each (inbound and outbound).
• Addition:On 04.09.2024 (derby against Erfurt) all lanes will be open again to increase traffic flow.

Ziegenhain

• Type: Traffic restrictions
• Duration: until 06.09.2024
• Reason: Fiber optic expansion
