Please note

OBI Tunnel (full closure extended up to and including Wednesday 4 November 2026)

• Type: Full closure of the footpath/cycle path
• Location: Camburger Straße up to the OBI Tunnel
• Duration: extended until 4 November 2026 inclusive
• Reason: Upgrading of the footpath/cycle path
• Details: The diversion is via the Saalbahnhof Tunnel.
  • Complete closure of the tunnel up to and including 4 November 2026; no crossing possible!

New closures / disruptions

Dornburger Straße

• Type: Half-lane closure
• Location: Near Friedrich-Wolf-Straße
• Duration: 4 to 27 November 2026
• Reason: Renovation of level crossing
• Details:The eastern footpath is closed; the western footpath remains open.

Löbdergraben

• Type: Closure of one side
• Location: Steinweg to Fischergasse
• Duration: 28 October to 18 December 2026
• Reason: Civil engineering works (repair to power line)
• Details:The construction work will begin at Fischergasse and proceed in sections towards Steinweg. Traffic diversions will be in placeas the workprogresses . Currently, traffic is being diverted via the left-turn lane at Fischergasse 1.

Isserstedt Main Road

• Type: Half-lane closure
• Duration: 2 to 13 November 2026
• Reason: Civil engineering works (gas, drinking water, sewerage and electricity)
• Details: Traffic is controlled by traffic lights.

Moritz-von-Rohr-Straße

• Type: Full closure
• Location: House numbers 4 to 6
• Duration: 9 to 20 November 2026
• Reason: Civil engineering works (separation of district heating service connections)
• Details: The closure can be bypassed via Carl-Zeiss-Promenade and Tatzendpromenade.

Closures that have ended

Kleine Jägerbergstraße / Am Schafberge

• Civil engineering works have been completed.

Stauffenbergstraße

• Electrical civil engineering works have been completed.

Wöllnitz footbridge

• Bridge refurbishment has been completed.

Current road closures

August-Bebel-Straße

• Type: Full closure
• Location: from house number 27a to Botzstraße
• Duration: until 30 October 2026
• Reason: major roadworks
• Details: Residents of Wilhelm-Külz-Straße can still access August-Bebel-Straße. A diversion is signposted. The ‘Norma’ supermarket is only accessible on foot.

Bernhard-Schultze-Straße

• Type: Full closure
• Duration: until 27 November 2026
• Reason: major roadworks involving utility and sewer works
• Details: The works will be carried out in two phases. A diversion will be signposted.
  • Phase 1: Am Steinborn from Löbichauer Straße to Bernhard-Schultze-Straße
  • Phase 2: Am Steinborn to Klopfleischstraße

Carl-Zeiss-Platz

• Type: Full road closure
• Location: House numbers 12 to 14
• Duration: until 31 December 2026
• Reason: Refurbishment and new construction of the German Museum of Optics

Dornburger Straße

• Type: Various closures
• Location: No. 6
• Duration: until 30 June 2027
• Reason: New-build construction
• Details: A one-way system is in place heading into town. The cordoned-off area is being used for site facilities and for loading and unloading. Heading out of town, the diversion is via Spitzweidenweg and Nollendorfer Straße.

Erfurter Straße and Humboldtstraße

• Type: Half-lane closure
• Duration: until 27 November 2026
• Reason: Civil engineering works for fibre-optic cables
• Details: The roadworks will be carried out as a moving worksite, starting in the Erfurter Straße area. Further along, Humboldtstraße will then be affected.

Göschwitzer Straße

• Type: Full closure
• Location: Behind the property access road to the premises at Göschwitzer Straße 7, 7a and 7b, along a private lane as far as the existing gas pressure regulating station
• Duration: until 30 November 2026
• Reason: Gas pipeline expansion
• Details: Access to the aforementioned residential properties will be maintained via a temporary construction access road. Further information can be found at www.stadtwerke-jena-netze.de/baustellen

Forstweg (bridge)

• Type: Full closure
• Location: between house numbers 12 and 24
• Duration: until 20 December 2026
• Reason: Replacement of the bridge
• Details: The road is accessible from both directions only as far as the bridge. Depending on the construction work, there may also be parking and stopping restrictions.
  The pedestrian bridge may be used from Friday (14:30) to Monday (07:00). On weekdays, please use the diversion via Kochstraße, Magdelstieg and Hornstraße.
  All road users are again urged to follow the existing traffic management arrangements at all times. There is a significant risk to life in the vicinity of the building site due to the excavation pit.

Fritz-Reuter-Straße

• Type: Full closure
• Duration: until 13 November 2026
• Reason: Reconstruction of drinking water, combined sewer and electrical cables
• Details: The works will be carried out in two phases. A diversion will be signposted.
  • Phase 1: From Kronfeldstraße to Viktor-von-Scheffel-Weg
  • Phase 2: From Viktor-von-Scheffel-Weg to Tatzendpromenade

Kahlaische Straße / Mühlenstraße

• Type: various road closures
• Duration: until 6 November 2026
• Reason: Track renovation
• Details: Mühlenstraße will be completely closed. One side of Kahlaische Straße will be closed. A one-way system will be in place heading into the city centre. Traffic heading out of the city centre will be diverted via Ernst-Haeckel-Straße – Westbahnhofstraße – Magdelstieg – Tatzendpromenade – Hermann-Löns-Straße and Winzerlaer Straße.
  Pedestrians can pass through the construction site. The diversion for cyclists will be signposted.
  Trams are not affected by the roadworks and will continue to operate on this route according to the current construction timetable.

Knebelstraße

• Type: Half-lane closure in the direction of Fischergasse
• Location: Near Volksbad
• Duration: until 18 December 2026
• Reason: Construction work at the track junction
• Details: Kahlaische Straße remains accessible. Traffic will be diverted via Grietgasse towards Fischergasse and Löbdergraben. From Grietgasse, it will then only be possible to turn into Kahlaische Straße.

Kritzegraben

• Type: Full closure
• Location: Junction of Kritzegraben, Thomas-Mann-Straße and Sankt-Jakob-Straße
• Duration: until 6 November 2026
• Reason: Civil engineering works
• Details: Please take a wide detour around the closure.

Lessingstraße

• Type: Full closure
• Location: between Fröbelstieg and Max-Wien-Platz
• Duration: until 31 December 2026
• Reason: Civil engineering works and construction site transport
• Details: The roadworks can be bypassed via Helmholtzweg.

Lützowstraße

• Type: Full closure
• Location: From house number 30 to Wildenbruchstraße 25
• Duration: until 18 December 2026
• Reason: major roadworks

Naumburger Straße

• Type: Full closure
• Location: From the outskirts of Jena to Rowena-Morse-Straße
• Duration: Phase 1 until 30 November 2026
• Reason: Extensive infrastructure works (renewal of the road, footpaths and cycle paths, utility lines, tram line extension)
• Details: The diversion is in place over a wide area in both directions from Camburg / Rodameuschel via the L1070 to Trotz, and from Trotz on the B7 via Bürgel to Jena. The junction with Carl-Orff-Straße Süd remains open to traffic at all times.

Otto-Schott-Straße

• Type: Full closure
• Location: from Kronfeldstraße towards Schleidenstraße
• Duration: until 20 November 2026
• Reason: District heating expansion
• Details: The diversion is via Magdelstieg.
  • Construction phase 2: Viktor-von-Scheffel-Weg to Tatzendpromenade

Paradiesbrücke

• Type: Closures of tracks and footpaths/cycle paths
• Duration: until approx. 31 March 2027
• Reason: Renovation of the tram line
• Details: Pedestrians and cyclists will be diverted via the adjacent footpath on Stadtrodaer Straße. Paradies station can only be accessed via the footpath on Knebelstraße.
  The works will be carried out in three construction phases.
  • Phase 1 (29 June to 15 December 2026): Closure of the section of track from Paradiesbrücke up to and including the Paradiesbahnhof stop. Changes to the route network for lines 1, 4 and 5.
  • Phase 2 (spring 2027): Closure of the section of track between the Paradiesbahnhof stop and the Holzmarkt junction. This construction phase will result in the suspension of tram services and the division of the network into a northern and a southern section.
  • 3. Construction phase (spring 2027): Refurbishment of the small level crossing at the access road to Paradiesbahnhof – with no disruption to local transport services.

Saalebrücke in the Oberaue

• Type: Temporary closures
• Duration: 30 September 2027
• Location: Near USV
• Details: Closures will be implemented depending on the work to be carried out and will be announced in good time. The bridge is currently open to pedestrians.

Saalstraße

• Type: Temporary full closure
• Location: Near house numbers 9 to 10
• Duration: until 6 November 2026
• Reason: Work on the district heating pipeline
• Details: As part of the construction work, there will be a temporary full closure lasting 3 to 4 days. The diversion for motor vehicles is via Unterlauengasse. The diversion for pedestrians and cyclists will be signposted.

Sankt-Jakob-Straße

• Type: Full closure of the southbound carriageway
• Location: between Kritzegraben and Spittelplatz
• Duration: until 31 December 2026
• Reason: major redevelopment of the area
• Details: The footpath and cycle path will be diverted via Philosophenweg towards Sankt-Jakob-Straße. Kritzegraben, Am Planetarium and Sophienstraße remain fully open to traffic.

Theobald-Renner-Straße

• Type: Partial closure and full closure
• Duration: to 30 November 2026
• Reason: Road resurfacing
• Details: Traffic congestion is expected.
  • Properties and car parks remain accessible.
  • The full closure at house number 2 can be bypassed via the Theobold-Renner-Straße loop.
  • Access to the swimming pool and car park is guaranteed.

Thomas-Mann-Straße

• Type: Change to traffic routing
• Location: between Nollendorfer Straße and Hufelandweg
• Duration: until 20 November 2026
• Reason: Complete resurfacing of the road
• Details: The removal of the natural stone paving and the laying of a new bituminous surface course are intended to improve road conditions. The construction project is divided into two phases.
  • Phase 1: House numbers 34 to 23a
  • Phase 2: House numbers 23a to 3
  • The one-way system will be suspended so that properties not located within the construction zone can be accessed.

Tümplingstraße

• Type: Full closure
• Location: From house number 1 to the junction with Tautenburger Straße
• Start: 8 September 2026
• Reason: Underground works (gas and electricity)
• Details: The diversion is via Charlottenstraße and Schlippenstraße.
