Jena in figures 2025: births, weddings and speeding violations

From "Emma" to "Stanley-Lucifer": the city takes stock of the year 2025 and presents current key figures from the registry office and traffic monitoring. The focus is on births, marriages and the most popular first names recorded to date - supplemented by figures on speed measurements, violations detected and the resulting measures in the city area.

Jena registry office 2025

Birth figures continue to decline

From January 1 to December 31, 2025, a total of 1,262 first births were registered at the Jena registry office. This continues the decline in the number of births that has been observed for several years. For comparison:

  • 2020: 1.652
  • 2021: 1.546
  • 2022: 1.360
  • 2023: 1.246
  • 2024: 1.357

Popular and special first names

In 2025, classic first names were once again the most popular. The most popular were:

  • Girls: Emma, Ella, Emilia
  • Boys: Felix, Fritz, Karl

In addition, particularly rare or unusual first names were also registered, including

  • Girls: Cassiopeia, Delaris, Gwennyfer
  • Boys: Pepino, Stanley-Lucifer, Hubertus

Marriages

In 2025, 253 marriages were performed in Jena and a total of 439 marriages were registered. Of the couples getting married:

  • 225 couples resided in Jena
  • 28 couples resided outside the city

In addition, 51 international marriages were registered in which the partners had different nationalities.
Registered civil partnerships were neither newly registered nor converted in 2025.

Traffic monitoring Jena 2025

Installations and operations

In 2025, a total of 15 traffic monitoring systems were in use in the city of Jena: two semi-stationary systems, ten stationary systems at five locations and three mobile systems. In addition, 504 mobile enforcement vehicles were deployed.

Violations detected

A total of 25,288 speeding violations were recorded by the stationary systems. A particularly large number of infringements were recorded on busy main roads. The most violations were recorded on:

  • Erlanger Allee (1,606)
  • Lobedaer Straße (1,232)
  • Winzerlaer Straße (1,174)
  • Bachstraße (745)
  • Rautal (563)
  • Wöllnitzer Straße (546)

22,816 violations were detected during the mobile measurements.

Sanctions and procedures

As a result of the traffic monitoring, the following were issued

  • 4,101 fines
  • 48,104 warnings
  • 76 driving bans

The total amount of fines imposed amounted to around 2.79 million euros. Appeals or court proceedings were initiated in 118 cases.
