Jena fire department collects donations for the Bad Neuenahr-Ahrweiler fire department comrades affected by the flood.

22.12.2021

Shortly before the 4th Advent, a delegation from the Jena fire department once again traveled to the Ahr valley. This time, however, for a happier occasion and with a donation cheque in their luggage.
This money was collected from comrades from various fire departments throughout Germany, friends and other supporters.

Benjamin Ratz, commander of the Jena-Wöllnitz volunteer fire department, who was deployed to Ahrweiler with some of his comrades in July, describes the situation as follows: "Even before we received our deployment order, the news and images from the disaster area filled us with horror. When we arrived in the Ahr valley, the scale of the situation we found left us speechless and was very demanding both physically and mentally. So what must the situation have been like for the comrades on site, who were personally affected and yet had been working tirelessly for weeks to help others. We spontaneously started collecting money from our comrades in the volunteer fire department back home. The Jena-Wöllnitzer Feuerwehr e.V. association immediately contributed €1500 and many other donors joined in."

On the last day, a donation of €3,333 was handed over on site. As word of the campaign spread among the emergency services, further donations were received even after the end of the operation. As a result, a total of €10,200 was transferred in September. This money will benefit the volunteer firefighters affected by the flood and is intended to send a signal of solidarity.

Further donations can be made directly to the following account:
