Jena fire department: thanks, promotion and new start
Today, Friday, 27 June 2025, several members of the Jena Fire Brigade were officially bid farewell, promoted and welcomed by Lord Mayor Dr. Thomas Nitzsche and Head of Department Nick Ludwig. The occasion was two upcoming retirements, one promotion, one lifetime appointment as a civil servant and the start of service of two new comrades transferred to Jena.
The following retired:
- Squad leader Andreas Leitner
- Chief fire officer and vehicle driver Hendrik Staps
"Working in the fire department is not just a job, but a vocation. You have both borne responsibility for years and made a significant contribution to protecting our city - I would like to thank you on behalf of all the people of Jena," said Lord Mayor Dr. Thomas Nitzsche.
New additions to the team or promotions:
- Jannik Nastke: early appointment as a civil servant for life
- Jörn Tischer: promotion to chief fire officer
- Andreas Ludwig: Transfer as fire chief from the Wartburgkreis fire department to Jena
- Lukas Müller: transfer from Duisburg city council, currently training to become a fire chief
Head of department Nick Ludwig emphasized: "We are delighted with the increase in personnel and the developments in the team. It is particularly nice that we can not only welcome new colleagues, but also honor achievements in active service. At the same time, we are saying goodbye to two valued colleagues whose experience and personality will be missed."
The City of Jena would like to thank all those honored and is delighted to have strengthened the team. For the next stage of their lives - whether retirement, training or a new place of work - it wishes them every success and, above all, good health.
