Jena Night of Sport 2026

A special highlight in Jena's sporting year is just around the corner: the Jena Night of Sport, which will take place for the first time in the Sparkassen-Arena on March 28, 2026. The best athletes and teams will be honored for their successes of the past year in a festive setting. In addition, a large number of volunteers will be honored for their work in Jena's sports clubs.

In addition to the awards, guests can look forward to a varied, sporting program and an exclusive buffet. Thuringia's Minister President Mario Voigt, Guntram Wothly, the Thuringian State Government's Commissioner for Volunteering, Lord Mayor Dr. Thomas Nitzsche, Mayor and Head of Department Benjamin Koppe as well as Head of Department Johannes Schleußner and Dirk Lange will be attending the event.

"The Jena Night of Sport highlights the outstanding achievements of the many athletes in Jena and recognizes the tireless work of volunteers,"

said Johannes Schleußner, head of the sports department.

"But it is also a tribute to the entire Jena sports landscape. In Jena in particular, we see that sport brings people together. Surveys conducted as part of sports development planning show that sport plays a central role in the lives of the majority of our population, and in the youth study it even plays the dominant role in their leisure activities. With the Jena Night of Sport, we are also paying tribute to all those who make this possible and spend countless hours volunteering for society in sports clubs."

Further honors

• A special prize for inclusion will be awarded for the first time this year.
• The Thuringian Sports Youth awards the Youth Prize in bronze.
• The Thuringian State Sports Association awards a bronze, silver and platinum badge of honor (the highest award for special services to sport)
