Jena sends flowery greetings to Erfurt
Shortly before the opening of BUGA 2021 in Erfurt, the city of Jena sent a special floral greeting to the state capital. Two boats symbolize the former use of the site as a landing place for wooden rafts at the newly designed Landfeste. The planting makes it clear that "We are a BUGA outdoor location". With the network of outdoor locations that has been formed, an impulse for a long-term garden tourism umbrella brand in Thuringia is also to be established for the period after 2021. Jena's SaaleParadies invites visitors to explore it on foot, by bike or by boat. Many areas along the banks have been redesigned for this purpose in recent years. Water hiking is also possible again, and water landing and transfer points have been built at weirs.
Mayor Thomas Nitzsche extended his warmest greetings to Erfurt and wished the show every success. Although the conditions are difficult at the moment, he is optimistic that BUGA 2021 will bear "fruit and flowers". He is particularly pleased that Jena will present itself with a planetarium on the Petersberg for two weeks in June.
The two flower boats "Landfeste Jena" and "BUGA 2021" at the Landfeste were designed by wood designer Matthias Körting and, after the current spring planting, will be planted in the summer and fall by the Jena-based company Boock Gartenkultur. As soon as the corona rules allow, guided tours will take place twice a week with the theme "Across the Landfeste into paradise", which will then be bookable via the tourist information office.
