Jena welcomes the closure of schools and daycare centers in Thuringia
The city of Jena welcomes the state of Thuringia's decision to close the daycare centers and schools.
"In its meeting today,the staff for extraordinary events also ordered the closure of these facilities in advance of the state government's decision," emphasizes Head of Staff and Head of Security Benjamin Koppe.
Monday will be used by the facilities for an orderly shutdown. Anyone who is able to provide childcare independently on Monday is required to stop sending their children to the facilities on Monday. The absence of children on Monday, March 16, 2020 is not considered a violation of compulsory school attendance by the city of Jena. Jena public transport will provide school transport on this day.
Lord Mayor Thomas Nitzsche asks that the weekend be used to organize this special challenge. He appeals not to schedule older people to look after children . The risk of infection with the coronavirus is too high, as the disease very often takes a severe course in them.
From Monday, the city administration will be restricting operations for visitors. Only essential appointments will be accepted. Accessibility by telephone and e-mail will continue to be fully guaranteed.
