KSJ and HBV successful
The HBV campaign MOVE & COLLECT! had the ambitious goal of removing 1,000 hours of garbage from nature.
At the end of the April period, it can now be announced: It worked!
In many places, the garbage conditions meant that the collectors were overloaded within a very short time and had to make their way back. The large amount of mixed garbage contained one or two curiosities: old armchairs, oversized tractor tires, various items of clothing from head to toe and, last but not least, tons of glass waste and plastic waste.
Over the course of the month, more and more support was gained. For example, the mixed youth E team and the 2nd and 1st men's teams quickly made the goal of the challenge part of their training and contributed a considerable number of hours to the overall score. Numerous participants from outside the club also joined the initiative. The Saaletreff Jena offered its help without further ado, as they were happy about the shared concern. In return, numerous HBV club members took part in a joint cleaning campaign around the Saale on April 24 to remove waste from the river and riverbanks.
The Schott Grammar School and the Weltentdecker kindergarten also responded to the call to remove waste from the natural environment.
However, things got tight at the end: the participants were anxiously looking at the loading bar until the overall target was reached, and this was to last until the last day, before almost 250 collectors jointly cracked the target they had set themselves and invested a total of 1,093 hours for the good of the environment. 100 liters of free drinks for the next club festival, donated by the Bauersfeld Jena restaurant, are thus secured!
The club would like to extend a special thank you to Kommunalservice Jena, which not only provided the necessary materials such as grab tongs, gloves and bin bags in sufficient numbers, but also took care of the final removal of the huge piles of garbage after they had been collected in easily accessible places. The excellent cooperation has already increased the anticipation of further exciting cooperation projects.
