Lichtstadt offspring ceremoniously welcomed
37 trainees are starting at the City of Jena in 20 different training programs. Lord Mayor Dr. Thomas Nitzsche welcomed the young men and women together with the training supervisors at a ceremony in the Volksbad today.
"A city administration is first and foremost there for its residents,"
emphasized Nitzsche. According to the Lord Mayor, the city is reliant on qualified specialists in order to carry out its diverse tasks - from the cradle to the grave. The career opportunities for the next generation are currently good.
"We do not want to and will not let up in attracting good young talent in the future and will continue to pay a lot of attention to training."
"The number of our trainees has risen continuously in recent years,"
said Anja Andritzke, training coordinator for the core administration. In 2015, the number was 28, and the range has also become increasingly broad - the city of Jena now offers a total of 28 different training and study programs.
Starting out in 20 different training and study programs
In the core administration, 20 new trainees are starting as administrative assistants, office management clerks, educators, emergency paramedics, fire officer candidates, fire chief inspector candidates, as civil servant candidates in the higher non-technical service or are beginning their studies in "Social Work" or "Public Management".
At Eigenbetrieb Kommunale Immobilien Jena (KIJ), four young people are starting their training as real estate agents, office management assistants or are studying "Digitalization Management". JenaKultur also welcomes four new trainees in the fields of tourism and leisure management, media and information services and event technology. Nine trainees are starting at Kommunalservice Jena (KSJ) as professional drivers, industrial clerks, civil engineering specialists, gardeners specializing in gardening and landscaping, electronics technicians and automotive mechatronics technicians specializing in commercial vehicles.
Mentors and trainers support the start of training
After the welcome, the trainees can look forward to an opening week in which they will not only get to know Jena and the city administration with its departments and tasks. In addition, at least one apprentice from a higher year of training is available to them as a mentor to help with any questions they may have about starting their career.
Around 140 trainers are now available to help and advise trainees in the core administration and in-house operations. In addition, many specialists and managers support the trainees, particularly in preparing for the exams.
"It is thanks to our trainers in particular that we have repeatedly made it onto the list of 'Germany's best trainers' in the past,"
says Andritzke. The city of Jena received this award again in 2024.
Melanie Otto, Head of Human Resources, emphasized the extraordinary commitment of the trainers:
"They bear the main burden of practical training and that's in addition to their own ever-increasing workload and responsibilities. Their contribution cannot be taken for granted, but it is very valuable."
Congratulations to 37 graduates
As well as welcoming the new arrivals, 37 graduates were given a ceremonial farewell this Friday. 30 of them have successfully completed their training in the core administration - as civil servant candidates in the higher non-technical service, as administrative assistants, office management clerks, IT specialists, fire officers, emergency paramedics and educators, as well as successfully completing the "Social Work" and "Public Management" courses.
Jenarbeit is delighted to have a newly qualified administrative assistant. At JenaKultur, two young people have completed their training as media and information services specialists and event management assistants. KIJ congratulates a graduate of the "Real Estate Management" course and KSJ three graduates as office management assistants and gardeners specializing in gardening and landscaping.
All graduates from the core administration were offered employment. The men and women are now starting their careers in the registry office, the fire department, the residence and immigration service, the youth welfare service, jenarbeit and the finance service.
