Major fire department operation in Brüsseler Straße

The Jena fire department was called to a fire in a joinery in Brüsseler Straße at around 12:00. The fire has now been extinguished, but there is still a lot of smoke.

A total of five people were injured. Two people are being treated in hospital with suspected smoke inhalation.

Brüsseler Straße is still closed to traffic for at least two hours between McDonalds and the Hornbach DIY store. (As of 13:15).

According to initial findings, a CNC machine caught fire. The police have started further investigations into the cause of the fire.

The Jena professional fire department with a total of 18 units was supported by the Lobeda (six units), Wöllnitz and Jena Mitte (three units each) volunteer fire departments.
