Masks handed over to the student union
There are currently no regular face-to-face events at the Jena university facilities. Nevertheless, some areas - such as libraries and laboratories - are accessible for important research work. Students are required to wear a medical face mask when in university facilities.
In order to provide all students with this access, the crisis management team of the city of Jena has decided to hand over 10,000 of these medical masks to the Studierendenwerk Thüringen. They were donated to the city of Jena by the German-Chinese Society.
Today, Managing Director of the Studierendenwerk Dr. Ralf Schmidt-Röh accepted the masks from Mayor Christian Gerlitz and Head of Department Benjamin Koppe.
These will behandedout to interested Jena students from Thursday in the currently unused "vegeTable" canteenon campus, Ernst-Abbe-Platz 5.
