Status: 6.3.2026, Jenaer Nahverkehr and JES Verkehrsgesellschaft inform:
The trade union ver.di has once again called on employees of Jenaer Nahverkehr and JES Verkehrsgesellschaft to take part in a warning strike. This time, the strike action has been announced for three days and is scheduled to last from Monday, March 9, 3:00 am to Thursday, March 12, 3:00 am .
As a result, regular bus and streetcar services will no longer be possible in the city of Jena and the Saale-Holzland district. It can be assumed that all scheduled streetcar and bus services in the city of Jena and the Saale-Holzland district may be canceled during this period. This will also affect school transport.
An emergency timetable can be set up again in the Saale-Holzland district. It can be viewed onthe Internet at www.stadtwerke-jena.de/streik-jnv.
For the urban area of Jena, Jenaer Nahverkehr is endeavoring to set up a limited emergency service with buses on individual routes during the morning rush hour and until the afternoon, if staff availability permits. However, it will not be possible to offer a service on the streetcar lines.
Jenaer Nahverkehr will provide information on whether such an emergency timetable will be possible and what services will be available on the day of the strike itself at www.stadtwerke-jena.de/streik-jnv.
If the employees of PVG Weimarer Land once again do not take part in the strike, those journeys that are normally operated by PVG can take place on line 16 (Isserstedt - Mühltal - city center - Ziegenhainer Tal) and line 28 (Isserstedt - bus station) . Further information can also be found at www.stadtwerke-jena.de/streik-jnv
Jener Nahverkehr would also like to point out that the journeys of VMT network partners KomBus and transport company Andreas Schröder, which commute to Jena from the Saale-Holzland district, are not affected by the strike activities and will run as normal. This also applies to individual journeys on route 47 (bus station - Lobeda-Ost - Ilmnitz Kreisel) and route 48 (bus station - Burgaupark - Maua). Further information can also be found at www.stadtwerke-jena.de/streik-jnv
Regional trains operated by Deutsche Bahn, Erfurter Bahn and Abellio are also not affected by the strike.
Schools in the Jena city area and the Saale-Holzland district have already been informed about the strike and the resulting disruptions to local transport services.
Passengers are asked to prepare for the travel disruptions in good time. After the end of the strike action on Thursday, March 12, 3:00 a.m., scheduled services will resume. Even then, cancellations and delays are still possible due to the delays in operations.
As far as possible during the strike action, the transport companies are endeavoring to keepthe timetable information in the route planner at www.nahverkehr-jena.de and in the MeinJena app up to date. Passengers can also find real-time information on the dynamic passenger information systems at the stops.
The Stadtwerke Jena Customer Center at Saalstraße 8a is also affected by the strike action. During the strike, ticket sales and advice on local transport services will be restricted.
