MUT tour comes to Jena

21.08.2019

"More courage, less fear and shame in dealing with depression" - this is the motto of the MUT Tour taking place in August. As in 2014, 2016 and 2018, Jena is once again part of the tour, in which people with and without experience of depression cycle together throughout Germany to promote more courage in dealing with depression.

The cycling stage to Braunschweig begins in Jena on August 26, 2019. Anyone interested is invited not only to greet the tour participants, but also to accompany them for a while on their bikes. Registration is not necessary:

Ride-along campaign Jena - Kunitz - Jena on 26.08.2019
10.00 a.m. Start of the city center campaign with information stands in Löbderstraße (opposite the Arco store)
11:00 a.m. Start of the public bike tour to accompany the MUT Tour teams to Kunitz and return to Jena after a short break
12:30 p.m. Closing snack at the Löbderstraße information stand

The stage that began in Berlin will end in Jena on August 24, 2019.

The project idea

The MUT-TOUR is an action program in which people experienced and inexperienced with depression move through Germany on bicycles, tandems, in kayaks and while hiking. The aim is to set an example together for more courage in dealing with depression and to live in a society in which mental illness is dealt with without fear or shame. "Many people know it, some deny it in shame, others cover it up for a variety of reasons. Hardly anyone likes to talk about it openly: Depression should not be a taboo and its impact should not be underestimated.Support the MUT- TOUR by taking part in it to cycle towards or away from indifference! "

(Willi Lemke & Annelie Keil, patrons of the MUT-TOUR since 2012)

Interested individuals or groups of less than 6 people have the opportunity to join an already planned tour. Registration is possible on the MUT-Tour website. There will be information stands and hands-on activities in each of the participating cities, where local associations and institutions from the fields of psychosocial issues and sport/health will present their services.

The Network for Suicide Prevention in Thuringia (NeST), the Health Department of the city administration, the General German Cycling Club (ADFC) Jena, the Clinic for Psychiatry and Psychotherapy, University Hospital Jena, the Center for Mental Health Jena of Diako Thüringen gem.GmbH and the Counseling Center for Addiction Help in Thuringia e.V. (SiT Jena) are participating in the campaign in Jena.
