New: The City of Jena is now on WhatsApp
The city of Jena now has its own WhatsApp channel. With this, the city is expanding its digital information services and offering residents another way to receive the latest news quickly and easily. Whether it’s event announcements, information on construction sites and traffic restrictions, opportunities to get involved, important announcements from city hall, or alerts—relevant information is delivered directly to your smartphone via the WhatsApp channel.
“A modern city administration must reach people precisely where they most frequently seek information and engage with others. With our WhatsApp channel, we’re creating an additional, straightforward way to access important information from City Hall,” says Mayor Dr. Thomas Nitzsche.
A Supplement to Existing Information Services
Use of the channel is free of charge. Interested individuals can subscribe with just a few clicks and will then automatically receive published posts. The channel is intended solely for informational purposes—it does not facilitate direct communication with city administration. Citizens are asked to continue using the usual contact information for their individual inquiries. WhatsApp complements the established communication channels of the Jena city administration. Information and news will continue to be published as usual on the City of Jena’s website, Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, and YouTube, as well as in the daily press.

- Open the link to the City of Jena’s WhatsApp channel.
- Tap “Subscribe” in WhatsApp.
- You can also enable notifications by tapping the bell icon to ensure you don’t miss any important information.
Privacy is protected: Subscribers’ phone numbers and other personal data are not visible to other users and are not accessed by the City of Jena.
With this new service, the City of Jena is adding another direct information channel to its existing communication channels via the city website and social media platforms.
