New general decree in Jena

13.04.2021

From Thursday, April 15, 2021, a new general decree of the city of Jena will come into force, in which the operation of educational institutions for children and young people will be linked to further protective measures. This includes, among other things, participation in the rapid test offers of the facilities. The organization of the test offers is left to the facilities, the city of Jena provides support in the procurement of test materials, insofar as short-term equipment cannot be guaranteed by the Free State.

Lord Mayor Dr. Thomas Nitzsche commented on the new decree: "Our aim is to maintain face-to-face teaching at schools and access to daycare and after-school care as far as possible. To achieve this, however, it must be possible to operate these facilities safely. That is why we are creating clear offers to support facility managers. We see our decree as a helpful addition to the state ordinance, which already regulates important necessary points, such as the obligation to wear masks in schools."

Measures for greater infection protection at Jena's educational institutions

Municipalities in which the 7-day incidence is above 150 can regulate further binding protective measures in order to prevent the closure of educational institutions.

The following measures apply to Jena's facilities with the new general decree:

  • From 15.04.2021: Ban on entry for parents or other persons who are not staff at the facility
  • From 15.04.2021: Ban on singing and instrumental lessons as well as sports lessons in closed rooms
  • From 16.4.2021: Participation of children and pupils in the self-testing offers in the respective facilities
  • From 16.04.2021: strict separation of learning groups and distance regulations for groups in common rooms; a distance of at least 10 meters must be guaranteed in open spaces

Parents are asked to contact the management of their institution regarding questions about the procedures and timing of rapid tests at schools and daycare centers. Detailed information about the measures was provided in letters to parents.

In the event of a positive test result, the procedures are clearly regulated. A test center of the DRK takes over the PCR test for verification.
