New head of the Jena municipal order department introduced
The Jena Municipal Order Department has a new head of department:
Sebastian Wick, an experienced officer from the Jena police force, has been appointed to the post. The 37-year-old family man and graduate in public administration has worked at the Jena State Police Inspectorate since 2009, where he was appointed Chief Superintendent of Police in 2019.
Since 01.04.2021, he has been responsible for four teams with a total of 48 employees in the Municipal Order Department: Municipal Security, the Central Investigation and Enforcement Service (ZEVD), the Commercial Team and the Traffic Monitoring Team. The main focus of his new role is his responsibility as an assembly authority as well as averting danger together with the ZEVD enforcement officers.
For department head Benjamin Koppe, one thing is certain: "Sebastian Wick symbolizes a new beginning in municipal order. His experience in the police service will have a positive impact on the cooperation between the institutions for an agile and safe city". Mr. Wick will initially be seconded as head of department, but his permanent transfer to the municipal service is planned.
"The handover of the specialist service management to Mr. Wick went smoothly: with his extensive specialist knowledge and experience as a police officer, he is ideally suited to his new area of responsibility," said his predecessor Dr. Susan Volkmann-Schwind, who managed the specialist service on an interim basis until the end of March.
The head of department thanks her for her dedicated work in the specialist service during a difficult time: for example, the ZEVD team alone has processed 16,488 cases since October 1, 2020, including around 14,000 in connection with pandemic-related infection control. The other teams in the specialist service are also doing a very good job despite the current efforts.
The head of the department and the new head of the specialist service agree: "The employees of the specialist service are doing an excellent job, especially in light of the stresses of the past few months. Now we need to look to the future together and face up to the challenges ahead."
