New mobile flash units in use in Jena
In the coming week, two semi-stationary speed measuring devices will be deployed in Jena to monitor traffic. The aim is to check compliance with the speed limit at various accident blackspots, in traffic-calmed zones, in the districts and in front of schools and daycare centers.
Two new mobile speed cameras were purchased for this purpose: the "Louis" semi-station from Jenoptik and the "Enforcement Trailer" from Vitronic. Both measuring stations are ready for use within a very short time and can be deployed flexibly at different locations. The technology used is installed in a vehicle trailer and is optimally protected against vandalism. Both systems have specific advantages:
- The Jenoptik semi-station is able to monitor both directions of travel simultaneously thanks to its rotating tower.
- The "Enforcement Trailer" from Vitronic offers the possibility of measuring up to four lanes simultaneously.
The devices were subjected to intensive practical testing in Jena. Based on this experience, the city finally decided to purchase both types of device.
