Construction work on Lommerweg from August 4

Extensive repair work on Lommerweg will begin on August 4, 2025. The construction work will be carried out by the Jena municipal service depot. The construction period is expected to last four weeks. The road will need to be fully closed in three construction phases. The affected construction area extends from the connecting path to August-Bebel-Straße (out of town after the underpass under Katharinenstraße) to Sickingenstraße.

Detour and accessibility

Local detour will be signposted during the construction work. The playground on Sickingenstraße will remain accessible for pedestrians. Cyclists wishing to use the playground can only do so via Sickingenstraße during the construction period.

Special construction method

Due to its location along the Leutra, the Lommerweg will continue to have an unbound surface. Although this construction method is more costly to maintain than an asphalt surface, for example, it ensures a nature-friendly design. The path is constructed in two layers from a mineral mixture. After installation and compaction, the surface must be left for a few days to achieve the necessary basic strength.

Information for cyclists

We ask all cyclists to strictly adhere to the temporary closures. Only in this way can the new road surface develop its planned stability and hopefully meet the usage requirements over a long period of time.
