Commemoration on the occasion of the 25th anniversary of Enver Şimşek's death

The memory of the victims of the NSU will also be kept alive in Jena this year. Traditionally, this takes place in Jena on the anniversary of the death of Enver Şimşek, who was murdered by the NSU in 2000. In the years that followed, nine other people were murdered and will also be commemorated.

A public memorial event will be held to mark the 25th anniversary of Enver Şimşek's death:

• Where? At the memorial plaque for Enver Şimşek at Enver-Şimşek-Platz in Jena-Winzerla

After the welcome and introduction by Lord Mayor Thomas Nitzsche, Michael Ebenau, formerly of IG Metall Jena, will speak. In recent years, he has worked intensively to come to terms with the NSU murders and the background of the NSU perpetrators in Jena in the 1990s.
