Jena celebrates the Week of Generations from November 10 to 15
From November 10 to 15, the city of Jena, together with numerous associations, initiatives and institutions, invites you to this year's Week of Generations. Under the motto "Encounter and Move", young and old can take part in a variety of events in all parts of the city - from lantern parades and district walks to creative and dance activities, lectures and film evenings.
Whether it's bread on a stick around a campfire, making music together, mindfulness in everyday life or a walk through the city with exercise stations - the program shows how lively togetherness is in Jena. The aim of the action week is to promote encounters across age boundaries and strengthen mutual understanding.
"The coexistence of generations is a treasure that we want to cultivate and make visible. When people of different ages meet, learn from each other and laugh together, a real sense of togetherness is created - and that is the foundation of an urban society based on solidarity," says Kathleen Lützkendorf, Head of the Department for Social Affairs, Health, Immigration and Climate.
The Jena Family Alliance's Intergenerational Cooperation Working Group has put its heart and soul into preparing the colorful program. The city of Jena would like to thank all those involved - from daycare centers and senior citizens' offices to sports, cultural and social organizations.
sports, cultural and social clubs - for their commitment and creative ideas.
"This week shows what is possible when many people pull together - from kindergartens to senior citizens' centers. My heartfelt thanks go to all those who bring our city to life every day," continued Lützkendorf.
