Expansion of Naumburger Straße begins: detour for regional and city buses

25.02.2026

Jenaer Nahverkehr and JES Verkehrsgesellschaft provide information:

On Monday, 02.03.2026, the fundamental expansion of Naumburger Straße will begin. As a result, the B88 federal road will be fully closed from the entrance to Jena to the northern junction of Carl-Orff-Straße. This will affect the regional and city bus routes operated by JES Verkehrsgesellschaft and Jenaer Nahverkehrs.

There will be timetable changes on the JES lines 420, 422, 426, 432, 440, 441 and the JNV lines 42 and 48. As the buses cannot run directly between Porstendorf and Jena-Nord in both directions, there will be changes to the journey times and at the junctions between the individual lines.

Lines 420 and 426 will be diverted in both directions via Kunitz and Golmsdorf. The stops on the detour route cannot be served.

Selected journeys on routes 420 and 426 will travel via the Himmelreich residential area and serve all known stops there. The bus turns at the northern end of Carl-Orff-Straße, after the Johann-Nikolaus-Bach-Weg stop, and travels back along Carl-Orff-Straße to the Carl-Orff-Straße stop on the B88. The Mozartweg, Anton-Bruckner-Weg and Johann-Nikolaus-Bach-Weg stops are only served in the out-of-town direction, as in the normal timetable. For some journeys during the day, it will be necessary to change from/to streetcar line 1 at the "Zwätzen Schleife" stop.

All journeys on line 422 will be diverted via Rödigen. There will be changes to journey times.

The timetable changes can be found in the timetable area and on the Jena public transport website, in all digital information systems and in the MeinJena app.
