Working together for more hygiene in care

22.04.2026

How can good hygiene be achieved in day-to-day care - practically, effectively and in an open exchange? Professionals from care facilities in Jena, hygiene officers and partners of the Jena Network for Infection Prevention have now met for the first time to discuss this question in a new format: the hygiene regulars' table.

The new exchange format was created to discuss current hygiene issues from everyday care, to learn from each other and to develop solutions that are sustainable in everyday life. The focus is on the health of residents, the safety of staff and continuous quality assurance in inpatient care facilities.

In an informal atmosphere, the hygiene regulars' table combines professional input with personal exchange: care standards in the context of hygiene requirements, new developments, project ideas and tried-and-tested practical examples are given just as much space here as open questions, specific challenges and joint brainstorming.

Sabine Dietsch, coordinator of the network, emphasizes: "The health of residents and staff in inpatient care facilities is important to us. The different perspectives and strong network partners who are willing to share knowledge and take responsibility together are important."

The Jena Network for Infection Prevention is the point of contact in Jena for questions relating to antibiotic-resistant pathogens and advises those affected, relatives and care and medical facilities.

The new exchange is also perceived as valuable by the facilities themselves. Sabine Scheller, Hygiene Officer at DRK-Seniorenheim Am Kleinertal and SH Rodatal, says: "What motivates me most about networking is the exchange with other people and the opportunity to learn from each other. Networking generates new ideas, collaborations and perspectives."

The hygiene regulars' table is to take place regularly in future and address infection prevention topics where they are particularly relevant in everyday life: close to practice, open to new ideas and supported by mutual appreciation.
