Fire in Jena East with large fire department contingent
The Jena fire department was called to a fire at Camsdorfer Ufer 2 at 11:21 p.m. on the night of 12.05.2026. A carport was on fire in the backyard of the building. As there was a risk of the fire spreading to the residential building, other units from the Jena Mitte, Burgau, Wöllnitz, Göschwitz, Lobeda and Winzerla volunteer fire departments were called out. A total of 21 units were on site.
27 people in the residential building had to be evacuated and were able to find shelter in the "Grüne Tanne" restaurant. A care team and the emergency pastoral care team were called in to care for and support the people.
The fire was successfully extinguished at around 23:45. All apartments were then checked and released again. All evacuees were able to return to their homes by 01:30.
The fire also caused damage to the streetcar overhead lines. According to local transport, streetcar services on line 2 will have to be interrupted today between 10:00 and 12:00 to repair the affected guy wire.
The police have begun investigating the cause of the fire.
