City of Jena with largest team at the start of the Jena company run
Beaming faces, sporting ambition and a strong sense of community: Team Stadt Jena was the largest team at the start of the 15th Jena Company Run yesterday, Tuesday. A total of 199 runners from the city administration, JenaKultur, Jenarbeit, Kommunale Immobilien Jena (KIJ) and Kommunalservice Jena (KSJ) covered the approximately five-kilometer course through the Paradiespark. The City of Jena team also achieved an excellent second place in the newly introduced relative team ranking, which measures the ratio of runners to the total company size.
"I am very grateful and proud that so many employees took part in this year's run. This is a strong team effort by our colleagues,"
said Johannes Schleußner, Head of Sports, who gave the starting signal this year as patron of the run.
Even though the focus was on team spirit and arriving together, sporting achievements were also recognized in various categories. Torsten Borowski from Jenarbeit came second in the "Fastest secretary" category. Frank Eisenberg (KSJ), Philipp Hendreich (fire department) and Holger Beer (city administration) achieved a strong 7th place in the "Fastest 3-person team" category.
With a total of 3,600 runners from more than 200 companies, participation in this running event was greater than ever before. Participation also raises funds for social projects and supports local associations and institutions.
