Extreme urban locations - challenges for our urban trees?

20.05.2026

Climate change, drought stress and soil compaction are increasingly affecting urban trees. Heat, limited root space and polluted soils are making their growth more difficult and jeopardizing their future. As part of the Waldgeflüster lecture series, Mark Pommnitz from Baum4 will be speaking on Thursday, May 28, 2026 about the particular challenges faced by urban trees and the importance of tree species, location and care for resilient urban greenery. It will also look at specific solutions, from forward-looking planning and professional planting to technical aids such as needs-based irrigation.

The event is aimed at anyone interested in learning more about the importance of urban trees for the climate, quality of life and sustainable urban development.
