More consideration in road traffic in Burgau

03.06.2026

Four new road markings are now reminding road users in Jena-Burgau to look out for each other and show consideration. On the road next to "Pflanzen Richter", at the two crossroads in front of the old Burgau bridge and on Theobald Renner-Straße, the message is now "Consideration matters". The appeal is aimed at all road users who share this road space.

A wide variety of groups encounter each other on these routes every day: Cyclists, pedestrians, motorists, agricultural vehicles and even horse riders. The new markings are a reminder that respectful coexistence and mutual attention are the basis for safety and a good traffic climate.

The road markings were presented yesterday (02.06.2026) by Markus Henkenmeier, authorized signatory of the Jena Economic Development Agency, together with Jens Hünniger and Enrico Schneider from the traffic guidance systems team at Kommunalservice Jena, as well as Ulrike Zimmermann, cycling traffic officer from the City of Jena's traffic planning team. The aim of the campaign is to promote greater understanding and consideration for each other on Jena's roads. The message is intended to make it clear that each and every individual is responsible for avoiding dangers and paying attention to the needs of other road users.
