Mühlenstraße
- Type: Half-lane closure
- Location: Near house number 135
- Duration: August 31 through September 4, 2026
- Reason:Roof work
Lützowstraße
- Type: Full closure
- Location: From house number 30 to Wildenbruchstraße 25
- Duration: August 31 through October 9, 2026
- Reason: Major renovation
Announcements/Notices
Thomas-Mann-Straße
- Type: Change in traffic routing
- Location: between Nollendorfer Straße and Hufelandweg
- Duration: September 7 through October 30, 2026
- Reason: Major road reconstruction
- Details: The removal of the natural stone paving and the installation of a new bituminous surface layer are intended to improve drivability. The construction project is divided into two phases.
- Phase 1: House number 34 to house number 23a
- Phase 2: House number 23a to house number 3
- The one-way traffic regulation will be suspended so that properties not located within the construction zone can be accessed.
Completed Road Closures
Göschwitz Train Station, forecourt
- Major construction work on the site has been completed.
Eugen-Diederichs-Straße
- Fiber-optic work has been completed.
Mühlenstraße
- Building renovation has been completed.
Munketal
- Utility lines have been replaced.
Rautal
- Slope stabilization has been completed.
- Details: The road will remain closed on one side until the guardrails are installed. A full road closure will be required again for one day in September to install the guardrails.
Current Closures
August-Bebel-Straße
- Type: Full closure
- Location: from house number 27a to Botzstraße
- Duration: through November 20, 2026
- Reason: major roadwork
- Details: Residents of Wilhelm-Külz-Straße can still access August-Bebel-Straße. A detour is signposted. The “Norma” supermarket is accessible only on foot.
Bernhard-Schultze-Straße
- Type: Full closure
- Duration: through October 2, 2026
- Reason: Major road reconstruction including utility and sewer work
- Details: The work will be carried out in two construction phases. A detour will be signposted.
- Phase 1: Am Steinborn from Löbichauer Street to Bernhard-Schultze Street
- Phase 2: Am Steinborn to Klopfleischstraße
Burgauer Weg
- Type: One-way closure
- Location: Between Mühlenstraße and the SteinMalEins all-day school
- Duration: until approximately early October 2026
- Reason:Construction of a high-pressure gas pipeline
- Details: The project will be carried out in two construction phases.
- Phase 2: (August 17 through early October 2026): In the area between the boathouse of the Jena Rowing and Water Sports Club and the Lichtenhain Bridge. A temporary lane for local traffic will be provided.
Camburger Straße
- Type: Single-lane closure and sidewalk closure
- Location: Near the Aral gas station
- Duration: Through September 11, 2026
- Reason:Civil engineering work
- Details:A traffic light is regulating traffic. The sidewalk near the pedestrian traffic light will be closed. Pedestrians will be rerouted via the traffic light at the intersection of Camburger Straße and Scharnhorststraße.
Carl-Zeiss-Platz
- Type: Full closure
- Location: House numbers 12 through 14
- Duration: through December 31, 2026
- Reason: Renovation and new construction of the German Optical Museum
Dornburger Street
- Type: Various closures
- Location: House number 6
- Duration: through October 31, 2026
- Reason: New construction
- Details: A one-way traffic system is in effect toward the city center. The closed-off area is being used for construction site setup and loading/unloading. Traffic heading out of town is being rerouted via Spitzweidenweg and Nollendorfer Street.
Forstweg (Bridge)
- Type: Complete closure
- Location: between house numbers 12 and 24
- Duration: through Dec. 20, 2026
- Reason: Replacement of the bridge
- Details: The road is accessible from both directions only up to the bridge. Depending on the construction work, additional parking and stopping restrictions may apply.
The pedestrian bridge may be crossed from Friday (2:30 p.m.) through Monday (7:00 a.m.).On weekdays, please use the detour via Kochstraße, Magdelstieg, and Hornstraße.
All road users are again urged to follow the existing traffic routing at all times. There is a significant risk to life in the area of the construction site due to the excavation pit.
Fritz-Reuter-Straße
- Type: Full closure
- Duration: through October 21, 2026
- Reason: Reconstruction of drinking water, stormwater, and electrical lines
- Details: The work will be carried out in two construction phases. A detour will be signposted.
- Phase 1: From Kronfeldstraße to Viktor-von-Scheffel-Weg
- Phase 2: From Viktor-von-Scheffel-Weg to Tatzendpromenade
Knebelstraße
- Type: Half-lane closure in the direction of Fischergasse
- Location: Near Volksbad
- Duration: through October 31, 2026
- Reason: Construction work at the Gleisdreieck
- Details: Kahlaische Straße remains accessible. Traffic is being diverted via Grietgasse toward Fischergasse and Löbdergraben. From Grietgasse, traffic can then only proceed onto Kahlaische Straße.
Kritzegraben
- Type: Full closure
- Location: Intersection of Kritzegraben, Thomas-Mann-Straße, and Sankt-Jakob-Straße
- Duration: through September 11, 2026
- Reason: Civil engineering work
- Details: Drivers must take a wide detour around the closure.
Lessingstraße
- Type: Full closure
- Location: between Fröbelstieg and Max-Wien-Platz
- Duration: through December 31, 2026
- Reason: Civil engineering work and construction site traffic
- Details: The construction site can be bypassed via Helmholtzweg.
Naumburger Straße
- Type: Full closure
- Location: From the outskirts of Jena to the intersection with Carl-Orff-Straße Süd
- Duration: Phase 1 through November 30, 2026
- Reason: Extensive infrastructure project (road reconstruction, sidewalks and bike paths, utility lines, tram line extension)
- Details: The detour is extensive in both directions, starting from Camburg/Rodameuschel via the L1070 to Trotz, and from Trotz on the B7 via Bürgel to Jena. The junction with Carl-Orff-Straße Süd remains open to traffic at all times.

OBI Tunnel
- Type: Restricted sidewalk / Complete closure of the sidewalk/bike path
- Location: Camburger Straße to the OBI Tunnel
- Duration: through October 31, 2026
- Reason: Expansion of the pedestrian/bike path
- Details: The detour runs through the Saalbahnhof Tunnel.
- Starting August 17, 2026, a 1.20-meter-wide, gravel-surfaced, non-accessible pedestrian passage through the OBI Tunnel will be available again. Coming out of the tunnel, the route heads north toward Camburger Straße through the adjacent small wooded area and the garage complex located there.
- Tunnel will be fully closed again: October 12 through October 30, 2026; no crossing possible!
Otto-Schott-Straße
- Type: Full closure
- Location: From Kronfeldstraße toward Schleidenstraße
- Duration: Through November 20, 2026
- Reason: District heating expansion
- Details: The detour runs via Magdelstieg.
- Construction Phase 2: Viktor-von-Scheffel-Weg to Tatzendpromenade
Paradiesbrücke
- Type: Closures of tracks and pedestrian and bike paths
- Duration: until approx. March 31, 2027
- Reason: Renovation of the tram line
- Details: Pedestrian and bicycle traffic will be rerouted via the adjacent sidewalk on Stadtrodaer Straße. Paradies Station is accessible only via the sidewalk on Knebelstraße.
The project will be carried out in 3 construction phases. - Phase 1 (June 29 through October 15, 2026): Closure of the track section from Paradiesbrücke up to and including the Paradiesbahnhof stop. Changes to the route map for lines 1, 4, and 5.
- Phase 2 (October 15 through the end of 2026): Closure of the track section between the Paradiesbahnhof stop and the Holzmarkt junction. This phase will result in an interruption of tram service and the division of the network into a northern and a southern section.
- Construction Phase 3 (Spring 2027): Renovation of the small railroad crossing at the entrance to Paradiesbahnhof—with no restrictions on local transit.

Saalebrücke in Oberaue
- Type: Temporary full closure
- Duration: September 30, 2027
- Location: Near USV
- Details: A signposted detour for pedestrians and cyclists leads over the Lichtenhainer Bridge.
- A narrow sidewalk is expected to be open across the Saale Bridge starting August 18, 2026. Additionalfull closures will occur depending on the work to be carried out.
Sankt-Jakob-Straße
- Type: Full closure of the southbound lane
- Location: between Kritzegraben and Spittelplatz
- Duration: through December 31, 2026
- Reason: Major redevelopment of the area
- Details: The pedestrian and bike path is being rerouted via Philosophenweg toward Sankt-Jakob-Straße. Kritzegraben, Am Planetarium, and Sophienstraße remain fully open to traffic.
Stauffenbergstraße
- Type: Temporary full closures
- Location: between house numbers 1 and 13 and the adjacent Fritz-Ritter-Straße
- Duration: through September 25, 2026
- Reason: Underground electrical work
- Details:Traffic will be rerouted via the adjacent road network.
Theobald-Renner-Straße
- Type: Partial closure and full closure
- Duration: through October 2, 2026
- Reason: Road resurfacing
- Details: Traffic congestion is expected.
- Properties and parking spaces remain accessible.
- The full closure near house number 2 can be bypassed via the loop on Theobold-Renner-Straße.
- Access to the swimming pool and the parking lot is guaranteed.
Wenigenjenaer Ufer
- Type: Full closure
- Location: Near the Am Ostbad Allotment Garden Association
- Duration: through September 4, 2026
- Reason: Civil engineering work to expose and perform a technical inspection of the gas line (pressure test)
- Details: A detour for pedestrians and cyclists is signposted.
Wöllnitz Pedestrian Bridge
- Type: Restrictions and closures
- Location: in the area of Stadtrodaer Straße
- Duration: through September 12, 2026
- Reason: Bridge renovation
- Details: The project will be carried out in 5 construction phases. During the 5th phase, the bridge will be closed to pedestrians and cyclists.
- Phase 5 (June 27 through September 12, 2026): The lanes heading toward the city center will be closed; traffic will be rerouted to the opposite direction.
