A First in Jena: Speed Wedding Appointments at the Registry Office

In response to numerous requests for weddings without all the “fuss,” the team at the Jena Registry Office has come up with a so-called “Speed Wedding Day” as an alternative to the nearly fully booked wedding calendar. 

Speed Wedding Debut in Jena

On November 4, 2026, appointments will be offered for the first time to couples who do not place importance on the ceremonial aspects of the wedding.

The ceremonies are deliberately focused on the essentials—saying “I do” and the start of married life together. The program is aimed at couples who want a straightforward wedding ceremony that focuses solely on the legal act of marriage, without speeches or other formalities. Additionally, guests are only permitted if they are the children of the couple getting married.

Dates for weddings in 2027 will be published starting October 1, 2026

Furthermore, dates for weddings in 2027 will be available starting October 1, 2026. Inquiries regarding these dates can only be made starting October 1, 2026; please contact the same email address, specifying your preferred date and a phone number. The marriage registrars will then clarify all details regarding the appointment reservation with the interested parties.
