AWO Announces the 2026 Jena Volunteer Award

01.10.2026

Without volunteer work, much of what we have in our society would not be possible. Every day, people in Jena stand up for others, take on responsibility, and actively help shape our community. The AWO Regionalverband Mitte-West-Thüringen e. V. would like to once again recognize this special commitment and is therefore announcing the 2026 Jena Volunteer Award.

“Volunteer work thrives on people who dedicate their time, their ideas, and their passion to others. They strengthen social cohesion and make our city a better place to live. With the Jena Volunteer Award, we want to highlight this commitment and thank those who often work behind the scenes for the common good,” explains Heide Broda, Vice Chair of the AWO MWT Board of Directors.

The Volunteer Award honors individuals, projects, and initiatives that demonstrate exceptional commitment to social causes and the community in the city of Jena. Nominations may include individuals as well as volunteer projects and initiatives. Nominations may be submitted by organizations, institutions, or private individuals.

A jury decides on the award recipients. The winners receive a trophy and a cash prize.

The AWO Regional Association of Central-Western Thuringia calls on all citizens to nominate dedicated individuals and projects, thereby expressing their appreciation for their commitment.
