Municipal shareholdings

The City of Jena provides a wide range of services for its citizens. The city of Jena fulfills its diverse tasks through the core administration as well as through its own companies, cross-regional special-purpose associations and, last but not least, through companies under private law.

In particular, the important areas of energy and water supply, sewage and waste disposal and local public transport are carried out outside the traditional administration. The municipal anchoring thus ensures the preservation and development of added value in the region.

Thanks to the municipal enterprises and associated companies, the "Unternehmen Stadt Jena" is a modern service provider that meets public needs efficiently and in a citizen-oriented manner.
