Delegation from Lugoj in Jena

Twinning in action: a delegation from Lugoj is visiting Jena from Thursday to Sunday. The guests from Romania, led by Mayor Francisc Boldea, are in the City of Light to maintain contact with their Jena partners and discuss existing and future projects.

New points of contact and players

During the visit to Jena University Hospital, one of the topics discussed was a new point of contact in the care sector. What they have in common is that both cities are working on making the nursing profession more attractive in order to counteract an impending shortage of skilled workers.

The Klex youth center is a completely new player in the area of town twinning. It offers a trip for children and young people to Lugoj during the fall vacations. The delegation found out about this during a visit to the center. The Klex is supported in the planning of the trip on a voluntary basis by the "Verein zur Förderung der Partnerschaft zwischen den Städten Lugoj und Jena e.V.". This is a driving force and constant point of reference for the partnership. The annual summer vacation trip for children from Lugoj to Jena is the core project of the association.

Existing cooperation

Another appointment for Mayor Boldea and his fellow travelers was a visit to the Stadtwerke Group. They have a long and stable relationship with the Lugoj "Meridian" municipal utility company. Accordingly, the meeting focused on a professional exchange.

Of course, there was also a working meeting with Jena's Lord Mayor Thomas Nitzsche. The guests also met with representatives of the city council to get to know each other. A tour of the emergency response center was also on the agenda, as was a visit to the Friedrich Schiller University's summer festival.

At the end of their stay in Jena, the Romanian guests will take part in the Jenzig Society's summer festival on the Jenzig this evening before leaving again on Sunday morning.
