Great Transformation. Of traces and dreams of a better world

The conviction that things cannot remain as they are is now part of the common sense of many people. Low growth rates, growing inequality within countries, increasing ecological destruction and increased migration movements are just some of the signs of profound upheaval, a 'Great Transformation', which is taking place primarily in the countries of North America and Europe.

The international conference "Great Transformation: The Future of Modern Societies" from September 23 to 27, 2019 in Jena, which will be attended by over 1,300 social scientists, is dedicated to these changes and their consequences. These topics can be discussed using social science tools, but Jena's citizens should also be able to participate in the discussion about possible social developments and desirable futures.
