Open approach to grief counseling

07.09.2019

The premiere at Paradiesstraße 3 was a success. More than 100 guests were welcomed to the first open day at the municipal funeral home in Jena on Saturday.

According to the director of the house, Bernd Schröder, there was a great deal of interest and many conversations took place. Visitors also traveled to Jena from more distant cities, as such an opportunity is not offered in their area. All the staff at the home are completely satisfied.

A coffin could be painted. Children and adults put pictures and messages on the unusual painting surface. It was amazing how open-minded the children in particular were in dealing with the situation.

The coffin is now for sale at the funeral home. The proceeds will be donated to the Jena Hospice Foundation. The donations collected during the catering are also intended for the foundation.
