Fire in Alt-Lobeda extinguished

After yesterday's fire in Alt-Lobeda, the damaged house is still being secured by a unit of the Jena professional fire department until the afternoon. The last pockets of embers were only extinguished in the early hours of the morning. The flames were prevented from spreading to neighboring houses.

The family living in the house is being cared for by the emergency counseling service. Unbureaucratic help from the city of Jena is of course possible. We ask you to respect the privacy of those affected. They decide for themselves about every step they take in public.

In the meantime, a wide range of offers of support have been received from neighbors, the local district council, the church and JenaWohnen.

Benjamin Koppe, Head of the Safety Department, expressly thanks them for this and emphasizes the high level of commitment of the fire departments. The situation will be evaluated in the coming days. A decision will be made as to whether further steps need to be taken with regard to security.

It is not yet possible to say anything about the cause of the fire. The police are on site and investigating.
