General ruling on the fan marches
The city of Jena wants to optimize the logistics on match days together with FC Carl Zeiss Jena and the police. To this end, the city is issuing a general decree for fan marches. This is valid for all upcoming FCC home matches.
I am very pleased that we have achieved this result in joint discussions with the police, the club and the fan project. The general order is an important step towards trusting cooperation on match days,
said Lord Mayor Dr. Thomas Nitzsche.
After taking a clear stance against violence, we see this as the right way to achieve a positive perception of soccer in view of its high image relevance for our city,
continued Nitzsche.
Head of Sports Benjamin Koppe emphasized:
Fan marches as a common path of the fans from the city center to the stadium are part of the fan culture and serve to get in the mood for the game. The fans from Jena and the region want to and should be allowed to express their enthusiasm for the sport.
Organized framework for fan marches
The general ruling provides an orderly framework for fan marches and regulates the standard route in particular. This makes it easier to plan police deployment in terms of personnel and organization.
The new regulation thus opens up the possibility for the police to act with restraint,
added Lutz Schnelle, Head of the Jena State Police Inspectorate.
The general order will come into force before the FCC's next home game against MSV Duisburg on 28.09.19. The next matches will show how the cooperation can be brought to life.
