18.09.2019

Final spurt! There are still some tickets left for the city of Jena's citizens' trip to Erlangen on 03.10.2019. On the occasion of the 30th anniversary of the peaceful revolution, travelers can look forward to a colourful cultural program.

A special highlight of the day will be the ceremony in the baroque Redoutensaal in the heart of Erlangen's old town. The keynote speaker will be Prof. Gesine Schwan. Jena's Lord Mayor Dr. Thomas Nitzsche and his Erlangen colleague Dr. Florian Janik will also be there.

In addition, the participants of the trip can expect a varied program, such as a city tour "We don't hide our light under a bushel - light cities Erlangen and Jena" to the Max Planck Institute of the Physics of Light and the Fraunhofer Institute for Integrated Circuits. Both institutions maintain close scientific ties with Jena. Another city tour, a panel discussion on the contribution of the churches during the peaceful revolution, a pub quiz and an ecumenical church service are also planned.

Artists and musicians from both cities will round off the program.

Tickets on sale at the Tourist Information Office

The trip costs 20 euros per passenger. A total of 250 seats are available. Tickets are available from JenaKultur at the Tourist Information Office (Markt 16, 07743 Jena). The exact program will be published before tickets go on sale.

The town twinning between Jena and Erlangen was established in 1987. For several years now, both cities have celebrated the twinning day together on October 3rd and visit each other on this day in alternating years. This year, Erlangen is inviting all citizens of Jena to join in the celebrations.
