Jena is prepared for the coronavirus

28.02.2020

The city of Jena is preparing for a possible outbreak of the coronavirus. Today, the staff for extraordinary events (SAE) met to discuss the current situation.

City, university hospital and police are working closely together

"We are in a good position in Jena," said Benjamin Koppe, the head of the department responsible for security and head of the staff unit, after the meeting. "Fortunately, no case of coronavirus has yet occurred in our city. We have brought the relevant stakeholders together to discuss what measures we will take quickly in the event of individual cases or even an epidemic in Jena. The city, university hospital and police are working closely together in a spirit of trust. It is important to ensure that the infrastructure is maintained at all times," says Koppe.

The Health Department and Jena University Hospital reported on preparations already made and on the possibilities and requirements of protective measures necessary in the event of an emergency.
