Fire engine handed over to Romania

02.03.2020

Sign of the town twinning

A decommissioned fire engine was handed over to the Bethausen fire department today. Bethausen in Romania is a neighboring community of Jena's twin town Lugoj. The fire engine supports the Lugoj fire department during operations. The forest fire season begins in the area in spring - so the ready-to-use vehicle comes at just the right time, says Mayor Lihoni Ioan. He personally traveled to Jena to receive the welcome gift.

Long tradition of cooperation

Comrades from the Bethausen and Jena fire departments made the 1,300 km journey to the west of Romania. This is already the 6th vehicle from the Jena fire department to be delivered to Lugoj. The funds come from the municipal fund for development cooperation.

Local fire department receives a modern vehicle

Thefire engineformerly stationed at the Closewitz volunteer fire department has been in use since 1992. A modern replacement is ready and will be handed over soon.
