Warning day - Jena technology worked perfectly
Positive results with room for improvement
After the test alarm today at 11.00 a.m., the fire department has drawn a positive balance. All 16 digital sirens played the tones and word announcements punctually and flawlessly. The task now is to increase the density of the sirens. Especially in the city center and in the eastern and western parts of the city, there is still a lack of warning systems. In the future, 32 sirens are planned. A sound plan has to be drawn up for each one and the right object has to be found for installation.
The volunteer fire departments in the villages should be retrofitted first. Lützeroda will be the next district to follow. Due to possible flood warnings, the southern part of the city is currently also disproportionately covered.
Thanks to the population
Special thanks go to the people of Jena. They took an active part in the discussions on social networks on the day of the warning. The fire station also received many calls. The predominant tenor: no alarm was heard. This is something that needs to be worked on in the coming years.
The Jena fire department was not responsible for reporting to warning apps such as NINA or KATWARN. These often issued alerts much later than planned. The Federal Office of Civil Protection and Disaster Assistancemust take corrective actionhere.
There is one year to do this: the next warning day will take place on September 9 in 2021.
