Olympic preparation in Jena

The top athlete will thus prepare for the upcoming Olympic Games in Jena. The Lichtstadt label will be prominently displayed on his training clothing. This sends out an important signal. Following the presentation of the stadium in combination with a new athletics facility and the ground-breaking ceremony for a 50-metre indoor swimming pool, this is further good news for the sports city of Jena.
Röhler's support was made possible with the help of Sparkasse Jena-Saale-Holzland and other sponsors.

Thomas Röhler:
"Being close to home, sport and performance have always been very closely linked for me. In Jena I find the best conditions to work on my sporting goals, even in these complicated times.

Thanks to the close cooperation between the athletics club and the city, we are always able to create great events and opportunities that also inspire young athletes in the long term. Together, we promote internationality and a view beyond the local sporting horizon at the Javelin Throwing Festival and Javelin Throwing Summer Camp in the Oberaue Jena. An event that we are planning again for 2021.

With a view to the preparations for the 2021 Olympic Games, I am very pleased to be able to start the Tokyo 2021 project from Jena with confidence and focus thanks to positive signals from the city and the club!"

Lord Mayor Thomas Nitzsche:
"Thomas Röhler and Jena are synonymous with two words: charming and successful. That's why it's a matter close to my heart to sign the extension contract with him for the city. We hope to offer him and his family the perfect environment to prepare for his next successes."

Head of Sports Benjamin Koppe:
"We see Thomas Röhler's decision to remain in the city and with the LC as a great vote of confidence. We want to continue to ensure that Jena can offer excellent conditions for competitive sport. The new athletics facility is currently a key issue. The city wants to build a facility for the Jena clubs, the sports high school and the university that will enable athletes like Thomas Röhler to continue to prepare for great successes in Jena in the future. The support of the Free State of Thuringia is of the utmost importance for all major projects. We are very pleased that the cooperation on the new stadium and swimming hall has worked so well and hope to be able to continue this with the athletics stadium, the next important building block in Thuringia's sports infrastructure."

Volker Thiel, Chairman of the Board of LC Jena:
"We at LC Jena are proud to be able to support and accompany Thomas Röhler, the reigning Olympic and European champion, for another year on his way to the Olympic Games in Tokyo."
