Information on event cancellations and the temporary closure of the Ernst Abbe Library Jena

Cancellation of events organized by JenaKultur

  • The Jena flea markets planned for March 21 and April 18, 2020 will not take place.
  • The Thuringian Wood Market planned for April 4, 2020 will not take place.
  • The Anna Depenbusch concert planned for April 4 at Volkshaus Jena will not take place. An alternative date is currently being sought with the agency. Further information will follow.
  • ALL concerts of the Jena Philharmonic Orchestra within Jena scheduled until April 19 (e.g. the Thursday concert on March 12 and the chamber concert on March 15) are canceled.
  • The museum festival of the Jena Municipal Museums entitled "Welcome and Farewell" on March 14 and 15 has been canceled.

Ernst Abbe Library Jena

The Ernst Abbe Library will be closed from Thursday, March 12 until Tuesday, April 14, 2020. Books and other media whose loan period expires within this period will be considered "automatically renewed" until reopening. Reminder fees will not be charged for this reason.

All events at the Ernst Abbe Library will also be canceled during this period.

There are currently no restrictions on attending or canceling courses at the Jena Adult Education Center, the Jena Music and Art School and the Jena Municipal Museums, including the Jena Art Collection.

Ticket returns/refunds

Tickets for canceled events can only be returned to the Jena Tourist Information Office from Thursday, March 19. Refunds will only be made at this time so that all necessary coordination between the tourism service, event organizers and operators of external ticket systems can take place to ensure the smoothest possible implementation.

A list of events for which tickets will be refunded at the Jena Tourist Information will be compiled and published by the beginning of next week. Online/Print@Home tickets and hard tickets will only be taken back at the Jena Tourist Information Office if they were purchased via the JenaKultur ticket system or at the Jena Tourist Information Office. Online tickets from external ticket systems (CTS Eventim etc.) and hard tickets that were not purchased at the Jena Tourist Information Office cannot be returned to the Jena Tourist Information Office.

Holders of subscriptions to the Jena Philharmonic Orchestra will receive a full refund for canceled events after the end of the 2019/2020 season in June 2020. They will be informed directly about the procedure.
