Stadtwerke Jena faces realignment of management structure
The companies of the Stadtwerke Jena Group have grown steadily in recent years and are economically successful. With their diverse business areas, their responsibility for the citizens of Jena goes far beyond the supply of energy.
The managing directors of Stadtwerke Jena GmbH and Stadtwerke Energie Jena-Pößneck GmbH, Thomas Zaremba and Thomas Dirkes, have made a significant contribution to the further development and success of the Group over many years as the dual leadership of these companies.
The City of Jena, as the sole shareholder of Stadtwerke Jena GmbH, now intends to realign the management structure of the group of companies, and in particular to abandon the principle of dual leadership in the management of the Stadtwerke Jena Group and Stadtwerke Energie. The composition of the management of Stadtwerke Jena GmbH is to reflect the importance of the Group's subsidiaries more strongly in future.
There are differing views on this realignment. For this reason, Managing Directors Thomas Zaremba and Thomas Dirkes will actively support the next steps in the interests of the companies and then leave the companies as planned in the course of 2021.
"I am delighted that Thomas Zaremba and Thomas Dirkes are willing to support the start of the realignment with their expertise. It is thanks to them that the companies and business divisions of the Stadtwerke Group are in an excellent position both financially and in terms of personnel. My sincere thanks go to them for this. Together we will ensure continuity in the succession from within the Group - an important sign for the employees, without whom Stadtwerke would not have been able to develop so successfully," emphasizes Dr. Thomas Nitzsche, Lord Mayor of the City of Jena and Chairman of the Supervisory Board.
For the Mayor and Head of Urban Development, Christian Gerlitz, the following is also important: "I am very grateful to both managing directors for their close and constructive cooperation. In addition to sustainable energy supply, the city and our Stadtwerke Group will also work closely together on attractive and affordable housing and environmentally friendly mobility. As strong Group companies, Jenawohnen and Jenaer Nahverkehr will be even more visible and agile in future with their very own profiles."
