Changes to waste disposal dates
Concerning the 51st and 52nd calendar week:
Disposals will be brought forward as follows due to Christmas Day:
Emptying from:
- Monday, 21.12. will take place on Saturday, 19.12.
- Tuesday, 22.12. will take place on Monday, 21.12.
- Wednesday, 23.12. will be emptied on Tuesday, 22.12.
- Thursday, 24.12. will take place on Wednesday, 23.12.
- Friday, 25.12. will take place on Thursday, 24.12. 2020
The empties from 1.1. will be made up on Saturday, 02.01.
Please note that 2020 ends with an odd calendar week and 2021 begins with an odd calendar week. This means that two odd-numbered weeks follow each other. Disposal will be carried out as specified by the calendar week. During this period, you can deliver light packaging, green waste and paper (shredded) to the recycling centers yourself if the container volume is insufficient.
Special opening hours of the recycling centers
- The 'Löbstedter Straße' recycling center is closed on 24.12. and is open until 1 pm on 31.12. In the new
year is open for the first time on 02.01. from 9 am to 4 pm. - The 'Emil-Wölk-Straße' recycling center will be closed on 24.12. and 31.12.2020 and will be open on 02.01. from 9 am to 2 pm.
Changes to drop-off/disposal at the recycling centers from 2021
The return/disposal of ceramics (e.g. washbasins and toilet bowls etc.), pallet furniture, fruit/vegetable crates is subject to a charge. Details and prices for waste disposal at the recycling centers can be found on the website: ksj.jena.de/abfallentsorgung under the heading Recycling Centers.
Sorting instructions - drop off at the recycling center
Pre-sorting waste saves time and money. Disposal is more cost-effective if wood, bulky waste, excavated soil, building rubble and scrap are pre-sorted as accurately as possible. Processes can also be accelerated.
- Old medicines can be handed in free of charge at participating pharmacies in Jena and at the recycling centers.
- The annual guide/waste calendar has been sent to all households.
