Kunitz house bridge open again

As of today, the Kunitz house bridge is open to pedestrians and cyclists again.

The link over the Saale, which was built in 2010, had been closed since November 18, 2020 to replace the bridge's surface. The costs amounted to €40,000.

The originally installed softwood beams had reached the end of their service life after 10 years. Glass fiber plastic panels have now been installed, which offer both longer durability and better structural wood protection. In addition, the roughened panels minimize the risk of slipping, which is particularly important in the wet and cold season.
