Jena's anti-waste movement
Jena's forests and hiking trails are currently experiencing particular popularity for various reasons. The restrictions on travel have made many people rediscover the charms of their own homeland.
Unfortunately, this has also led to an increase in littering in the countryside and along the trails. This can be remedied through voluntary commitment. The handball club Jena 90 e.V. (HBV) is calling for such actions.
In the period from April 1 to 30, members, friends and sponsors of the HBV are encouraged to get active in nature and collect litter in the process. The goal is to collect 1,000 hours of garbage!
Kommunalservice Jena (KSJ) was delighted with the initiative. They are supporting the volunteers with tongs, gloves and bin bags. In addition, fixed collection points have been agreed with the association for depositing the collected garbage containers. Plant manager Uwe Feige expresses his appreciation to the volunteers for not giving up in times of the pandemic, but rather taking action. The active work with children and their active awareness of the environment is an outstanding contribution.
Other clubs and groups can also start similar campaigns. Please contact the Jena Municipal Service on 0049 3641 4989-250 or by e-mail: vertrieb@jena.de.
The forests and hiking trails are a common asset of our city. Every kind of protection and care helps to preserve them.
