Background of the infection

Since Friday, 56 new infections have been reported. The infections are widespread and can be attributed to the family, work, education and care sectors. Over the weekend alone, more than 300 quarantine orders were written and more than 500 contacts were identified. In ten educational institutions, quarantine orders were written for individual classes after corona cases were confirmed in children (9x) and educational staff (1x). In one facility for the elderly, one resident and one nurse tested positive. Rapid tests already arranged at the facility did not indicate any further positive results. Further swabbing and infection control measures are being implemented.

New rapid test centres go live

New rapid testing centers are launching this week. A map of all testing centres, locations and opening hours can be viewed on the website. In total, citizens can now get tested at 23 locations across the city.

  • From Monday, 19.04.21 the fashion store SiNN (access corner Post-Carré) opens a rapid test center. The opening hours are Monday - Saturday, 10-19 o'clock;
  • From Tuesday, 20.04.2021 the DRK in Jena-Ost, Schulstraße 11 will open another test center. This will then always be open from Monday to Saturday from 10:00 to 16:00. In return, the Noll-Garten test centre will be temporarily closed from Monday, 19.04.2021.
  • Another drive-in test center is operated by the practice Dr. Kielstein at the parking lot of the Burgaupark shopping center. Opening hours: Monday - Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Saturday 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
