City of Jena introduces online application

28.04.2021

From now on it is even easier to apply at the city of Jena. In addition to e-mail and postal applications, interested parties can also apply directly online via the career site of the city of Jena. This is made possible with the help of the web-based recruiting software BITE, short for Business IT-Engineers.

Application documents can be uploaded directly via the career pages. At the same time, it is possible to transfer data from XING or LinkedIn profiles. Of course, all data protection specifications and regulations have been coordinated, checked and complied with. The software operates in compliance with DSGVO.

The digital applicant management tool thus joins other digitalization projects in the personnel area of the city of Jena. Head of HR Siegrun Cais says: "We are also feeling the shortage of skilled workers. Many employees will be retiring in the next few years. The city's social media channels, our newly designed careers page and a video about the city as an employer are already helping us to digitally reach the young talent that is so important to us. Now we're guiding them digitally through the application process as well."

It's not just the candidates themselves who benefit from the new software. All city employees involved in the application process, e.g. the HR department, department heads, the staff council or the equal opportunities officer, can work simultaneously in the system and make a pre-selection based on the required criteria. This reduces the administrative effort and saves time and printing costs. "This allows us to concentrate on the essentials: the selection of the most suitable applicants, and we are pleased with this important step in modern personnel marketing," explains Yvonne Abraham, Head of Human Resources/Organization at the JenaKultur Eigenbetrieb.

Applications with the new software are currently possible for job advertisements of the city administration, JenaKultur and jenarbeit. Other areas of the city will follow.
